On his way to her house, his mind wandered around why she had called him. He thought about every circumstances that could arise. Mostly the bad ones struck his mind soon. But he hoped that nothing wrong happens to her. She was the only friend he had though she never treated him like one.
He had reached the place as she had explained. It took him about an hour and a half to reach the destined place. He would have reached a bit early if he wasn’t stuck in traffic. Traffic had become a nuisance nowadays. Everyone, young or old , rode four wheeler or two wheeler on the road.
Her house was huge irrespective to the neighboring houses in the locality. He seemed surprised that how could two girls manage such a big house. He walked into the patio where the small outdoor chair lay. He rang the bell. No one answered. “ Hello! Anywhere there ?”, he called. No one responded.
After waiting for few minutes, he feared about her safety. He dialed her number. It rang at the other end but no one picked the call. He cut the call and knocked the door for few minutes. He had turned his back and started to walk when he heard the door open. He saw her grief stricken face and all his worries melted in thin air.
“ I am so relieved to see you. I thought something went wrong with you. How are you?”, he said. “ Nothing. I was with my sister. The sound of the bell is low. But we have called the repair guy but he didn’t show up yet. Sorry for the inconvenience. Come in.”, she said calmly , not letting him know about the sorrow she had kept deep inside her.
She let him inside the house. The house was indeed bigger than it looked from outside. The foyer was large than his room. He imagined about her family background. Who was she really? Did she belong to some forgotten royal family? The furniture looked antique and classic. The carpets, curtains ,oil paintings and everything inside the house showed a different picture of her. Who was she? Arjun was confused. Did he really know her?
