The french bread-part 1

She stood in front of tall wonder-Eiffel tower.  It looked beautiful lit in night. Many tourist took memoirs of this beauty in their camera. Unlike them, she had come with different intention- to bid goodbye to this wonderful monument. It was her last day in Paris. She was going back home where she had dreamed about her artistic expedition in Paris. It had come back to end.  She was going home just like the migrating birds would travel back home after their winter vacation. She was taking back the sweet memories and experiences with her. But she had to do something before she leaves.

She walked down the streets that narrowed down to the bakery. It was small yet popular bakery where her favorite French bread was made.  It was filled with aroma of fresh baked bread as she entered the bakery. As usual, she ordered for two loaves of baguettes. “ Anything else, ami” Pierre said. She smiled remembering about her first visit to the bakery. He had said the same words and she didn’t understand why he called her ‘ami’ when her name was Rashmi. Later she realised that it was French word for friend.

“ So what plans for this weekend?” he asked casually. “ I am going back home, Pierre. Seriously I would miss your breads. (pauses) I have to leave. I have to finish few errands before I leave. Bye, take care.” , she said giving him a quick hug. He stood not trusting his eyes.  It was so quick for him to react. It had ended before anything could start between them. His plans of taking her for a date and breaking the news that he was her ‘Bein amiee’ had failed.

He was going back to the memory lane when they had first met. They were paired in a group for a project where they had to make unique mural. They hadn’t spoken anything while together. It was only when they were online in social networking site. He had used pseudo to chat with her due to his shyness. However he regretted doing this even now when he had fallen for her.  He wanted to disclose his identity every time. But fear of  ‘losing her’ had held him back. She hadn’t messaged him past few months. Now he realized the reason for no responses.

Two weeks had passed. He lay on the bed  due to his drunken senses. He had become miserable without her.  He couldn’t forget those innocent brown eyes .He had to get her back in his life and all of sudden he decided to find her in her native. He had no idea what he was going to tell her. But he had to see her.

(To be continued)
