Red Roses - Part 29a

I became a toy in his hands. I did what he told me to like a puppet. After he did all those nasty things to me, he would say, “ Hush my sweet pea! You don’t want any undue attention on us. So it’s a secret between us. Don’t  disappoint your uncle.” I would simply follow his orders. Who would believe me? It was late 18th century and women had just started to come out of their shells. Renaissance had just begun but voice of a woman was still hushed.

But I was barely twelve… a child... filled with innocence.Sigh! When I bought the courage and decided to disclose the truth, reality shook me. My poor family had sold me to him. They had planned my betrothal to that evil. The one who I was running away was going to be there for rest of my life.

From that the day of my life , I forgot all the goodness. I accepted the fact that you cannot survive in the world without being bad. So I became bad. I started loving the attention and  previous gifts that he showered on me. There was no expectation from me. I only had to dress well , be a good hostess to all of his guests and provide him all the love that he wanted.

Good things don’t last long. Greed and lust for better life was the only thing I knew in my life. In other words, my husband .. the pathetic man was boring me. His precious gifts didn’t impress me anymore. Our huge house seemed small to me. Our status was not so high like his rich friends.

His rich friends would take their women to balls and gift them with exquisite piece of jewellery. Yes! He did gift me with all that but he would abuse me later. I hated that. So one fine morning, I lost my patience while I was preparing breakfast for him. He was busy throwing abuses at me. Then I don’t where that come from. I raised the knife I was using for cutting vegetables. I stabbed him numerous times. Every time , I did that,I  would stab him for every sin he put me in. I got my revenge and also freedom from the life I was leading.

His death didn’t make much of difference to anyone. He was pain in the ass like you guys would say. However he did one good thing before dying. He had transferred all his wealth in my name. After few days of pretending mourning, I found myself  back to square.

Red Roses - Part 29

“ Rajeev! Poor Rajeev!”, he thought solemnly. The poor guy lost his heart and life for the evil. “ I pity my friend’s death. I pity him for losing himself into your innocence. I pity myself to let him or me believe in demon like you.”, he said coldly. “ Pity.. Pity is a weak word, sweet pea.mix pityness to  You are mere human and ignorance is a part of you. Don't mix pity with ignorance. ", she argued.

He remembered the days when he was on the run to find the killer of Rajeev. He didn’t know that the killer was close to him. How would he know? Lucy had kept this dark secret perfectly to him. He still couldn’t believe that his friend was killed by his lover. Love kills! He wished he never got to know the truth behind the cold blooded murder.

“Darling, cheer up! I am going to fulfill your dreams now. Soon you will find your friend with you.”, she said. “ Take as many souls you want! But don’t simply think , you can get away with that. God is watching! One day, he will make you pay.”, he snarled at her. She slapped him hard and Fern placed her chainsaw next to his thigh, warning him about the consquences.

“ God! I will take you life this instant and God will be doing what he always does.. watch .. simply  watch one of his ‘not so loyal’ devotee die in pain. He never came when I needed him while I was suffering in pain. Do you think he will come now to save you from my evil plans.”, she said with her eyes wide open.

“ Let me tell you a story of a Louise who left her innocent when she was barely 12 due to men like you in her life.”, she said , revisiting the past that she had kissed goodbye for long long time. He was in no mood of listening to her stories. He had heard enough of her lies, deceptions and dark secrets. Before he could stop her, she had started her story.

The story of Lucianne (Lucy)’s past

Love is blind even if it is the love that you share for your family. It can be dangerous when you give up your innocence for impressing the one you love. I wanted to be his princess. I did things to impress him because I wanted to see that love for me in his eyes. He bought me gifts if I did favours for him. Those favours made me feel disgust at myself. But I didn’t bother because I loved him… I respected him.. He was a king to me and I thought I was his princess. Unfortunately the truth was something else. He wanted to make me his queen- the secret queen who gave him immense pleasures that his real life queen couldn’t offer. I hated it initially but I had gotten used to it

Red Roses - Part 28

Her sarcastic smile said it all. She was no angel. She was not what she looked. Confusion and anger were the only emotions monitoring his thought. He wished he wasn’t chained. He wished he hadn’t fallen for her tricks. How would he know? He felt her emergency message was genuine. He hoped that he wasn’t too emotional about hurting people’s heart.

“ Who are you, Lucy? Why do you want to hurt me? What have I done to you?”, he asked. “ Slow down, mate. Too many questions will only reduce the hours of your survival. Don’t you live for few minutes , my sweet love?”, she said politely. “ Don’t play around with me, dammit! Tell me, why have you tied me like this? Why do you want to kill me?”, he growled. “ I didn’t start hurting you and you are already hurt! So why do I want to kill you?”, she said.

He waited for her answer. “ Hmmm.. ok… We aren’t killing you. We are only sucking your soul out. It’s precious for us, you see. It’s like an obligation to devil.”, she said with smile that he had started to loathe. Love !! God! How could he mistook her innocence for anything else. Suddenly she burst out into the wicked laugh.

It made him more furious. “ Look at you! Look at you! I love it when you look at me like that. The anger in your eyes is enough to rejuvenate my desire to suck that bloody soul out of you. I can’t wait and even Fern too. But you are too curious and won’t die until I reveal our secret.”, she said

He stared at both the girls. Both were different from each other but were same in terms of actions. Fern was devilious from inside and outside while Lucy had angelic exterior and evil within inside.  She came closer to him until he could feel her breath.

Her breath and presence made him feel disgust and uneasy. “ So you really want to know who we are right? Fern and me are not sister but are part of one wandering soul who has taken the shelter of devil. This killing that you ‘humans’ call is just a sacrifice or token of our bondage to devil. You and the various other sacrifices are just a part of our duty. You must have heard about the strange killings. Right! If you have read the headlines, you would have known. Those are a part of our sacrifices. But yours is the precious soul from all that we have collected , I bet. To get to you was an amazing journey of impossibilities. Great! We finally got you and for that I should thank Rajeev. The poor fool had to go under knife just for me to get to you. I love him for that”, she said.

Red Roses - Part 27

He didn’t cry or scream loudly. It was no use. He had no idea where he was or whether there were people outside this room. He had to get out of this room and find Lucy. But it seemed like distant dream. Helping someone was impossible when one’s own life is on stake. He looked at the creature. What was this creature?

Was this monster?  He hadn’t seen or heard about such creatures existing in planet earth. He was always felt that the presence of any supernatural was only myth. “ Who are you ?” , he wanted to say. But the words were stuck in his mouth due to fear. It had no eyes, no mouth or no eyes or any feature that would call it human.

The creature moved closer to him with it’s weapon. It was ready to start it’s work of massacre. Another victim’s life was going to be sacked as part of it’s obligation. It bought the chainsaw towards his thighs and stopped it there before it directed it’s weapon inside his flesh. The blood gushed out of his wound. The pain was intolerable. He screamed loudly.

It waited for him to stop screaming. When the pain was bearable, he stopped screaming. But the torture didn’t stop there. It pierced the weapon inside his next body part until every part of his body was wounded. The pain was excruciating with every wound it made on his body. However he was able to bear. He didn’t give up. He had made up his mind that he would never give up on his life so easily.

The creature was about to place it on his heart when he spoke for the first time, “ Stop! Can you please answer one question before you can take my life? Where is Lucy.. the girl who was with me? I want to see her one last time.” The creature didn’t answer. It was about to accomplish it’s duty. It was about to put the chainsaw into his heart. Within a split second, he heard a feminine voice asking it to stop.

He was startled. The voice was so familiar. It was Lucy. He was relieved that she was fine. But the fear appeared from nowhere. Why was she here?  “ Lucy… Run!!”, he screamed at her. She didn’t listen. She walked towards the monster as if it was normal. “Stop Fern! Won’t you let me play with my prey? I promise you that I will give him to you once I am done.”, she said. She gave an evil sarcastic smile.

Red Roses - Part 26

He didn’t know how many hours had passed or how many days had gone. How long had it been that he was stuck up here? How long had it been that he was unconscious. He felt so helpless and lost. With chains tied to every part of his body, he felt no lesser than disabled man. They say that light glows from tiny hole in darkest room. But did this apply to his life? Will a hope shine in this dark strange room?

He breathe deeply to relieve himself from the tension that were developing inside him. How was he getting out? There had to be some secret way to outside that he hadn’t noticed. If he was brought into this room, then he could get out. He hoped that he could find that way and he always did.

He searched the room with curious eyes. It was completely dark. He felt like a blind man tied up like a prisoner. But he didn’t lose hope. He looked around until a light glimmered across the room. It looked like a bulb and a figure appeared. He was relieved. At last he saw a human after long time.

Maybe he/she was his kidnapper. Whoever it was, he was glad to see a human presence in the room. “ Hello”, he called. The person didn’t respond and he/she was busy doing something. He didn’t care until he got the stranger’s attention. He called again and there was no luck this time. He continued. He didn’t stop.

But then something happened. The stranger stopped what he/ she was doing and walked towards him. At last his technique of grabbing attention worked. He wanted answers. Maybe the stranger would help find them. He waited patiently for the stranger to come as it took him/her to walk towards him.

It was fine until he saw the stranger. He was shocked. He was scared. It was not a human. It was not an animal either. It was ugly. The only thing that looked human was it’s shape. His heart skipped when he saw that it had a chainsaw in it’s other hand which looked like unhuman. The fear and confusion had filled his mind that he didn’t realize this was an end of his life.

Red Roses - Part 25

There was an eerie silence for a moment. “ Are you fine? Your message… You said you are in danger. Is something wrong?”, he asked, breaking the silence between them. He waited for her to reply. “ It was about my sister. Do you want something to drink? How about a lemonade?”, she asked instead of answering his question.

He nodded ‘yes’ and she walked towards the kitchen to prepare the drink. He looked around. The house was filled royal artifacts. There were pictures everywhere. Some were sketches of Lucy. But there was no sketch or family photo of Fern , Lucy’s sister.  Maybe her sister was a private person. He had also not noticed any family pics. But that was strange.
She came back within few minutes with the drink. She offered him. The lemonade tasted good. It was sweet at first and then he started feeling dizzy. His vision became blurry. Everything around him was stirring in circle. What was happening to him? Why was he feeling weak? Was it because of his poor appetite?

Whatever it was, he was not feeling good. All of sudden, everything turned dark.  He went into deep sleep after he lost the fight with the deteriorating condition. He opened his eyes when he saw himself tied to chains. The first question that struck his mind was - Where was he? He did remember something about the moments spent before.

His head ached when he tried to remember. He examined his surrounding. It was creepy and dark. Nothing seemed clear. Even the reason why he was here. He didn’t understand for how long he had been tied up here. He didn’t understand for how long he was unconscious.

The place didn’t have any window. It was difficult to understand where this place was located. He only remembered of being at Lucy’s house. Lucy.. Lucy!! His headache started again. How did he not think about Lucy? She was with him. He looked around again . She wasn’t there. Obviously it was dark and thus he wouldn’t find her. He called her name out. There was no answer. Where was she? He prayed that nothing happened to her.

Red Roses- Part 24

On his way to her house, his mind wandered around why she had called him. He thought about every circumstances that could arise. Mostly the bad ones struck his mind soon. But he hoped that nothing wrong happens to her. She was the only friend he had though she never treated him like one.

He had reached the place as she had explained. It took him about an hour and a half to reach the destined place. He would have reached a bit early if he wasn’t stuck in traffic. Traffic had become a nuisance nowadays. Everyone, young or old ,  rode four wheeler or two wheeler on the road.

Her house was huge irrespective to the neighboring houses in the locality. He seemed surprised that how could two girls manage such a big house. He walked into the patio where the small outdoor chair lay. He rang the bell. No one answered. “ Hello! Anywhere there ?”, he called. No one responded.

After waiting for few minutes, he feared about her safety. He dialed her number. It rang at the other end but no one picked the call. He cut the call and knocked the door for few minutes. He had turned his back and started to walk when he heard the door open. He saw her grief stricken face and all his worries melted in thin air.

“ I am so relieved to see you. I thought something went wrong with you. How are you?”, he said. “ Nothing. I was with my sister. The sound of the bell is low. But we have called the repair guy but he didn’t show up yet. Sorry for the inconvenience. Come in.”, she said calmly , not letting him know about the sorrow she had kept deep inside her.

She let him inside the house. The house was indeed bigger than it looked from outside. The foyer was large than his room. He imagined about her family background. Who was she really? Did she belong to some forgotten royal family? The furniture looked antique and classic. The carpets, curtains ,oil paintings and everything inside the house showed a different picture of her. Who was she? Arjun was confused. Did he really know her?

Red Roses - Part 23

He looked at her with curious eyes. He ignored her. “ Your face says it all! That’s how anyone can know what you are thinking?”, she said.  He got up and walked towards the door.  She stopped by grabbing his wrist. “ Why are you running away from me? Am I really bad?”, she asked with innocent puppy eyes. It melted his heart instantly.

“ No! You are not bad. But you are Rajeev’s girlfriend. I can’t accept you.It won’t be good. Anyway you won’t understand. It’s best if we don’t meet. Bye”, he said. She didn’t let go. She didn’t want to let go. “Don’t go! It’s okay if you want to take days. I will wait. I have told you this before. But don’t ignore me.”, she said.

“ Dammit! How should I tell you? I can’t do this to my friend. It’s not even six months since he left us. He was good friend to me, maybe he wasn’t good boyfriend to you. Whatever it maybe . You moved too quickly but I haven’t and will never be.”, he said. “ (Sigh) I never loved him. How do I make you understand that I loved you. Won’t you give me one chance to let me into your life.”, she begged, hoping he would accept her.

Unfortunately he walked away. She let him go this time. She didn’t insist him to stay. She controlled her tears until she broke down. He didn’t look back though he wanted to.  The pain hit his heart and all he wanted to do now was to go and hug her. But he didn’t. He did love her. However his love was not important to him than the special friendship he shared with Rajeev.

He didn’t hear from her after that day. No messages. No phone calls. Maybe she did understand at last that what friendship was to him. He prayed that she didn’t do anything stupid. It wasn’t likely that she would do anything stupid. But nowadays girls tend to be hypersensitive about love. He had heard stories about how many girls have tried to sacrifice their life for silly thing called crush that they assume it as love.

Everything was going normal. There was no news about her. So he assumed that she was also doing fine until one fine day, she sent an SOS to him.  It read - “ Please come home, I need your help.  I am in danger.” He was scared and concerned. Thus he rushed to her house.

Red Roses - Part 22

He had read her message like million times. He cried too sometimes. He felt guilty for hurting her feelings. Sometimes he felt that he should give one more chance to their relationship. But what about his friend? Yes! Rajeev wasn’t there. Rajeev had gone far away and obviously he does want Lucy to go on with her life. And what about him?

He still adored her. He still carried those feeling for her. Love! No ! Love was deep that tied two person together under it’s sweet spell. Whatever this feeling was called, it only made him go far away from her. He thought deeply about her, life and everything else. The big question was - Was he able to give her love and affection she deserves?

The following mornings and night were spent on the thinking over about whether it would work or not. Then that was it! He would give it a shot. Unfortunately he never had courage to call her or text her. Finally he gave up. He tried to focus on getting back to his life. He hardly met her. When he did met her, it was always a coincidence meeting.

They would greet each other and maybe even have tea together. But that’s it! No one bought the topic of giving another chance to love. They were shy. They were scared of losing each other. They smiled and said good bye.

It was beautiful sunny morning. A lazy yet interesting Sunday to relax and loosen oneself. He had tiring week , spending it in completing all the deadlines on the articles he wrote for a magazine. He had decided to spend his Sunday morning at the coffee shop where he and Rajeev would spend most of their time.

He bought himself a latte which he hated so much. He drank it in one shot. “ How did he drink this? God! I hate it!”, he wondered. “ Then why do you drink it if you hate it so much? You still miss him, don’t you?”, she asked. Her voice didn’t startled him. What shocked him was that she could read his thoughts so clearly.

Red Roses - Part 21

Rajeev still wandered in his mind like ghost of past. Whenever he met Lucy, he would speak more often about Rajeev. Lucy would get annoyed sometimes. Later she accepted his bad habit of replaying the past moments as part of their conversation. She rarely stopped him. She understood how much he loved his friend.

In these few months, he learnt so much about her. Unlike him, she was strong and brave. She had accepted the fact of his death and looked forward to life. She didn’t sink into depression like him. Yes! She still loved him. She thought about him. But she rarely spoke about him. Arjun was happy but surprised. Did she really love him?

He had tried to ask her the same question- Did she love Rajeev? But the words never remained in his heart. What surprised him was about her secluding Rajeev from her life. He didn’t want her to moan about her dead love. However she would have at least spoken about him for few minutes. But he had never seen her speak about Rajeev. It was like as if Rajeev was just a page of some god forsaken chapter in her life story.

Maybe she was private person who hardly show emotions out. Maybe she was crying out for him secretly. Whatever it may be , she was definitely not the type of girl who would sulk all day. She looked at him with curious eyes. “ What are you thinking so much?”, she asked him. “ Nothing ! Just that.. Do you love him?”, he replied with a question. “ Love.. Indeed! I loved him with all my heart. But not as much as you think I love him. He wasn’t my life. He was just a friend like you are.”, she said.

Arjun was shocked. No wonder, she didn’t seem to be in love with him. The kiss! That day when she had professed love to him still played in his mind. Was she in still love with him? No! It can’t be. Though his friend wasn’t there, Lucy still was his friend’s girlfriend. He respected her but he couldn’t let those hidden feelings surface on his face. He had thrashed them into deep ocean of his heart. He didn’t want them to come back.

He walked away from her while she called his name loud. He didn’t turn back and stopped only when he reached home. He sat idle for long hours with his mind only thinking about her. His phone vibrated and he didn’t want to look at it. But he did. The message was from her and it read - “ Hi Arjun! I know why you left me alone. Yes! I do love you but I won’t force you to love me. I will wait for you. I won’t give up on you.”

Red roses - Part 20

He looked at her confused. Who was she?  She was his friend’s girlfriend and she was telling him to move on? Why? Didn’t she want to know the cause of the death of her love? Didn’t she want him to get justice? He wanted to ask her all these question. But her begging eyes made him think about what she said. Was she right about he being too hard on himself about the loss of his friend?  He had to move on.

He nodded his head , promising her that he wouldn’t divulge into finding the truth about his friend;s death. He started getting back with his life though a part of his heart didn’t want him to stop the journey he had left in middle. He felt miserable sometimes when he would think about his friend.

When he was with Lucy, he pretended that he was okay. It was like any other day. The morning was quiet and calm with few birds chirping here and there. As usual he wasn’t listening while Lucy described about her lonely life.  “ So this is it! I don’t know what to do. I..”, she was talking when she saw that he had drifted to some other thoughts. Instead of shaking him up, she simply got up.

He was startled and all of sudden he came back to reality. She was leaving. “ Where are you going? What happened?”, he asked. “ You don’t even care! Why do you ask now? You weren’t even listening to me and I had noticed you since few minutes back. If you don’t want me to share my life events with you, I won’t. But don’t pretend you care. Bye! I am leaving.”, she cried.

He grabbed her hand and pulled her towards him. “ I am sorry. I won’t do that again.”, he apologised. She tried to pull away but his grip was tight. “ Don’t go! I don’t want to lose another friend of mine due to my obnoxious behaviour. I am sorry.. I won’t do that again.”, he said.

She hugged him and instantly forgave him. “ It’s okay. But don’t you ever fly to the dreamland. It’s rude.”, she said. He nodded and asked,” So what were you saying?” She smiled and started with what she did and what she didn’t. Everything became normal again.

Red Roses- Part 19

The jail was tiny stinky room. It had become a temporary hotel room for petty thieves, small time murderers and rowdies. The mixture of various smell ranging from the low class cigarette to wet swap smell. It made Arjun's bile come up.

For few minutes, he wished that he wasn't aggressive about the death of his dear friend. He wanted to get out from these sinners. They had been torturing him for being outsider and accused him of sins that he had not committed.

He sat down with his hands covering his face. He had to get out. Every single passing second would mean that the murderer would be free.. Enjoying his freedom while the world would be oblivious of his friend's murderer.

Then he felt the prison door open and the constable walk across him. "Arjun, you have been given bail. You are free now.",he said.

Arjun walked outside and towards where Lucy was signing on some paper. The police looked at him with disgust. Maybe it was mostly due to losing one of the prisoner. He wanted this one to stay longer.

Arjun took a deep breath and released it instantly. Lucy was staring at him with intense eyes. He looked back at her with same intensity. " Don't do this. I hate this but I have to say this- Move on and let him rest in peace. Wherever he is, he wishes that you stop all this!", she begged.

Red Roses - Part 18

He read the newspaper one more time. The news was not new. It was a news that was published at time after his death. The paper was preserved though it was bit crumbled.

The headlines read- Another anonymous murder. The details of killer wasn't described because the killer was smart and clever to not to leave any traces. Unfortunately the police didn't make any effort to deduce the reason of murder or anything about it. They closed the case and declared it as unnatural death.

He couldn't accept Rajeev's death as unnatural. He knew Rajeev wouldn't take his own life. Rajeev had everything in his life to be proud of. Was it someone from his past? He had to know.

While he spent his days in finding the truth, he would find some time to call her to see if she needed anything or whether she was fine. He knew nothing could replace Rajeev but he wanted Lucy to move on. However the question was - Did he move on? He still couldn't accept the truth- his friend was no more.

Whenever a new hope shined at his door, he would grab it. Unfortunately that hope would die soon or end in wrong turn. He wasn't happy. Frustration had taken a toll on him. The sources or persons he thought would help, weren't helpful.

He thought it was revenge attack. But after continuous interrogation with the people he thought would take his life , nothing came up. It was fruitless. Today was also the same. His non stop accusation of a college enemy ended him in the jail.

Red roses - Part 17

He grabbed it from her soft hands and let her in. As she walked in, she bought  inside the memories of his friends with her. His carefree smile and happy go attitude would bring the people together.

She made herself comfortable on the couch that had become a stand for keeping clothes. " Can I get you something?", he asked politely , hiding the surprise he had about her coming. She looked at him with a blank face.

" Sigh! I am.. sorry for what I said yesterday. I was hurt by his loss. It was unexpected. It was like he had come yesterday and now he's not there. Why does this happen to me? Why do I lose the people I love ?", she said in verge of crying. Her eyes were almost wet.

He walked towards her and knelt down while he held her face. " No ! Don't say that! I am there for you. And he is not lost . He is very much there with us. You only have to feel him.", he said , consoling her and his pain.

She gave a weak smile. He was right! Rajeev was there in every possible way. He was in the air they breathe, the rays of light and even the blue sky. She hugged Arjun. Arjun felt awkward but he didn't let her know his awkwardness and she needed his support now.

Days passed and it took lot of time for the heart to heal. The funeral was painful to everyone who loved Rajeev. His death became a thing in past with the reason of his murder.  But Arjun still didn't sleep peacefully. He had to know why he died.

Red roses- Part 16

He had no words to describe the emotions he had for his lost friend. Helplessness.. Regret.. Guilty.. All words seemed not enough to describe what he was feeling. He thought about Lucy. Was she aware of the news? Maybe she wouldn't have received the news.

The police had called his number , most probably due to first letter of his name. He called her. The first few rings were ignored. She picked up the call when he thought he would disconnect the call.

"Hello", she said, her voice lacked the chirpiness. It was dull and low. It was obvious that she knew about the death. "Hi! Are you fine? I just.. got the news.. I thought you needed any kind of support. I know what you are going through. I will be there if you need me.", he said.

There was eerie silence on the other side of the phone. " Thanks.. But I don't want you to show me any kind of sympathy. I am better off alone.", she said bitterly and hung up call before he could say anything. He was hurt not by her words but the helplessness that he had shut them off from his life that he lost the rights to share their problems.

He sat down and cried his heart out. He had lost two of his close friends. One was due to death and the other was due to his cold nature. He didn't sleep the whole night.

He woke up with the sore eyes . His body ached due to lack of sleep. He stretched his hands and rose up slowly to faint light that passed through the thick curtains. He walked towards the door and opened it to find her standing outside with the newspaper and milk.

Red roses - Part 15

He didn't meet them after that unfateful event. He had distanced himself from them, making excuses which sounded lame sometimes. She had called him many times but he ignored her calls. This pained him. Alas! He had to be hard on her.

There were many occasions when he would cry uncontrollable or laugh as if he didn't care or hit his fist on the wall several times until it became sore. Why did he make mistake of falling in love with his friend's girl friend when he knows how much his friend loves her and he was the one who made them together?

Love! Sometimes he wished he could throw his heart out and never feel that wrecked emotion again. He had become loner amongst people. His friends started dwindling due to his aloof nature.

It had been months since he hadn't spoken to Rajeev. He missed those sweet days when their friendship was on the high. They would do all the crazy things together. Now his life was colourless without him.

Love was supposed to be special bond that would connect people. In his case it only created a tear on their relationship. He prayed that Lucy and Rajeev were good together. He hoped they were happy.

Sigh! Everything in this damn world has an expiry date including water and life. He woke up in middle of night to breaking news. His friend was dead. He was murdered in a cold blood.

Red roses- Part 14

It was sweet and beautiful. He was transported to a different place instantly. He liked it but his consciousness belittled him. His heart beat faster. He felt that he would collapse any moment. His stomach churned due to fear.

He broke free from her. She was shocked and was still shaking. " What are you doing? Dammit! I am your boyfriend's friend. ", he screamed, but was cautious about the volume of his voice.

" What's wrong with that? I love you! I always loved you and not your friend. I just wanted to get close to you. I am not happy with your friend.", she argued in calm and cool voice.

" Jesus Christ! How dare you profess love to me when you accepted someone else's love. You are no saint. You haven't not done anything big to accept my friend's love. Tell me one thing- why did you accept my friend when you loved me?", he laid down his argument.

Arjun started walking towards opposite direction when she spoke, " Don't leave me here,Arjun! Ok! If you want me to be with him and that keeps you happy, then I will forget you. But don't leave me stranded like this!", she pleaded with eyes filled with innocence.

He stopped and turned towards her. Her grief stricken  face was more than enough to melt his heart. He stayed until the celebration was over. Rajeev was back but he didn't get even a hint that something had gone wrong when he wasn't there.

Red Roses - part 13

She was looking spectacular in white floral dress with green cardigan that hid her slender hands. When she saw him, she gave him one of those warm lit smile.

He fell in love with her all over again. Why? Why did she had to smile? Why couldn't he control his heart? Damn! This was his friend's girlfriend. How can he lose his heart to her?

Love is difficult language. There is always pain attached to every part of it . He knew this fact but his heart didn't want to believe it. Rajeev bought the cake and present. She cut it excitedly after blowing the candles.

She opened the present like a little child. It was silver chain with heart shaped locket. She was very happy to recieve it. Arjun felt the deep pain in the heart. He hadn't bought anything for her. He should have stopped Rajeev while coming here. He could have bought some decent present for her.

Rajeev had got an urgent call and left them alone. " Sorry Lucy! I didn't get you any gift.", he apologised. " Again! Why do you keep saying sorry?", she said while coming closer to him.

He hadn't noticed the distance between him and her until he could feel the breath against his cheeks. He was aghast. He felt every part of his heart tingle with fear." You are my gift, darling!", she said and kissed him on his lips.
