Consensual- Part 8

I had no courage to ask what was going on. Hey! I knew what was going to happen. I was going to be doomed for the sin I did. I knew dad would send me to faraway place where I would learn to stay within my boundaries. Mother was not going to talk to me for some time.  People would talk about me and disorient the news about me. Praveen! What would happen to him? He was going to be in wrong limelight because of me. I hate that!
I sat alone in my room. I was forbidden to have any contact from outside world. The only people I ever had contact to were my maids who bought me food. But I hardly could eat. I was having mixed bag of feelings- I was scared as well as anxious. I wanted to know what was cooking behind these walls.
I would try to get the news from my maid. But they refused to give in any details. I stayed clueless for many days about my future. I spent my days in hope of when sun rays would appear at my door. One fine day, I saw my dad come to my room. I got up excitedly like an overjoyed kid who had got a new toy. But at the same time, I felt pain about what was going to happen. I prayed that every single minute that was going to pass to be a positive one.
“ i am ashamed about what took place. I never expected that you, my obdient child would stab me from behind. I always got you the best things you wished for. What did you give in return ? Pain ! Grief! Disappointment! I am very unhappy with you. I will never forgive you.”, he said, wounding my heart more.
However his words were right. i did wrong. I couldn't control my heart. I blamed myself for whatever I had caused. If and only if i had controlled myself that day, this wouldn’t have happened. I started crying. I didn’t try to defend myself. My dad kept on talking. “ Now what has happened cannot be changed. We , elders have made a decision. ( long pause). We are getting you married next month.”, he said.
I was shocked..shell shocked! I didn’t know how to react.  I was disillusioned. I didn’t whether to be happy or sad. i was neither confused nor did I understand anything. What was happening? Why were we being married. I tried to voice in my opinion. But i knew I didnt have any say into this.

Consensual -part 7

I couldn’t take it anymore. I felt difficult to breathe. All this was suffocating me. I had to get away. I was in rebel mode. I walked out of the gathering. It wasn’t too far when I felt something pull my hand. I looked behind to see him hold my hand to stop me. His eyes were filled with red flames of anger. It was no longer sea blue.

“Where are you going?”, he asked , holding my hand tight. I felt the pain and tried to free myself. Even though he was skinny, his grip was really strong. “Leave my hand. You are hurting me.”, I said softly. “I won’t leave until you tell me where you going?”, he said stubbornly. I felt the tears rush out of my eyes. I controlled it. “ Why do you want to know? You don’t love me. Why?”, I said, trying not to break down. However my emotion affected my voice.

“Stop creating scene! You think that if you leave, everything will be fine. No! Don’t make me look bad. See, I was never into you. I have been straight with you about my feelings. You don’t know me very well. How can you call this love? Get over it, girl.”, he said.

“I will not go. Leave me alone!”, I screamed. He pulled my hand and dragged me against my wishes. I cried the whole way. We were greeted by our families while dad looked suspiciously quiet. The music had stopped. There were no more friendly chats except for gossip whispers in the crowd. We were in spotlight.

His dad , Shantaram Uncle came close to us and slapped Praveen hard. His cheek was swollen and red. We didn’t understand the commotion and stood stunned. My dad walked out and didn’t say much. Mother pulled me and followed dad. I was still disillusioned by recent episode. What was that? Why were there not talking about it? Did they … No, don’t tell me they got to know about us.

Consensual-part 6

It was new years eve. I didn’t want to be a part of any celebrations. I wanted to be left alone. But as always I never got chance to voice my desire. I had to come. I was perfect daughter in eyes of my parents.

I sulked the whole time. I made myself invisible amongst the known crowd. I didn’t feel like mingling with people. I felt so small. I couldn’t even leave even if I wanted to. I sat alone looking at people enjoying their time. They were dancing , singing, chatting and playing. Everyone were enjoying except me. Few of them called me to join in, but I wasn’t feeling good. I dismissed their offer politely.

My heart still was beating for him. My eyes searched for him even after he broke my heart so easily. My conscious was secretly scolding me for my indiscretion towards him. How could I let my heartbreaker into my life?

I stopped my search abruptly when I found him. My heart beat increased at alarming rate with excitement. But it stopped when I saw him candidly chatting with one of my cousin, Aarti on whom I intensely loathed.  What did she have  that I didn’t. She wasn’t pretty to look at. She wasn’t articulate either. What made her so different from me? I wouldn’t call myself pretty but I was indeed smarter than her. I could differentiate between A and B unlike her. Maybe it was her sweet talk or her falling on every guy she lay eyes on.
Whatever her trick was, I prayed Praveen didn’t fall into.

But my prayers didn’t fall into the ears of God. I saw him smiling carelessly at every stupid joke of her. Her bloody PJs! The rumours were right. She had ditched her last boyfriend because he couldn’t afford to tolerate her nonsensical behaviour. Now she was back of my sweetheart. I wish he could see her tricks clearly.

I wanted to barge into their conversation and pull him out. But I couldn’t. Why would he listen to me? I was a kid in his eyes. Oh! How innocent his smile was? It would bring some light in his sea blue eyes. I wish he did that when he was with me. He looked  his best in red tee and baggy pants. I wanted to hug him so bad. Life becomes a miserable bitch when you don’t get what you deserve.

Consensual - part 5

His expression changed from astonishment to funny one. He laughed like a kid. I stood there , not sure why he was laughing. "Oh my god! Seriously? I don't have any words.", he laughed.

"I didn't understand...", I stammered.  "You wouldn't understand. How will you? You are a kid who believes in fantasy world. This is not love. You are just infatuated, kiddo.", he said.

For a second, I didn't react. It took me few minutes to understand what was happening. My eyes swelled up. I was controlling my emotions. I didn't want to look like a crybaby. I smiled and said, " I know what you mean. I am so dumb that I thought this feeling to be love." He looked at his watch constantly. " I hope you understood what I meant. I have never seen you anything more than just a kid.", he said smoothly.

He left me alone stranded with my emotions. My heart pained. I wanted to cry but I had to control. I locked myself inside my room. These four walls had become my best friend for quite sometime. Somehow it seemed they understood my problems better. I couldn't disclose these heartbreak feelings with my family as they were still in their conventional thinking. I had to bring in my brightest side whenever I was with them.

But I was in serious pain. It had damaged me. I had lost everything that I had. It was difficult for me to cope up with sorrow and grief. More than that it was difficult for me to be different person at different hours. Sometimes I wondered that I may suffer personality disorder.

I couldn't vent my temper on anything. I was burning inside. I had become puppet of my heart. I didn't want to hurt others but in the end I was hurting myself too much.

Consensual - part 4

"So how's life, kiddo?" , he asked, breaking the silence. Life! It's miserable without him. Well! I couldn't tell that. Why does he keep calling me kiddo. I am not a kid.

"Good! College is over at last.", I said, trying to sound friendly although my voice was too weak to prove that.

"You are free now. You must be having a blast with your friends.", he said excitedly. Enjoyment is nothing without him and friends... I have distanced from them when my heart was not with me. "Dad asked me to assist him with some official work. So I am starting from tomorrow.", I said. "Oh! That's boring. You should enjoy your life more. Work will be there but make fun a part of your life.", he adviced.

I nodded my head as if I was going to introduce fun into my life now. Fun was out of my life for quite sometime. But if he comes into my life, I would get fun back.

As I thought about our equation, a voice screamed inside my head, asking when I would tell him about my hidden feelings. " I ... I had called you that day . You didn't come. I guess you were busy with some work.", I said, hoping that I wasn't rude.

"That day... Oh! I am sorry, love. I was busy with few things and the meeting was out of my mind.", he said, making baby face that he had forgotten about it. "Anyway, you wanted to tell me something!", he added. I was surprised that he remembered at least about what I wanted to meet him for.

I got all my courage to tell him about my true feelings. But my heart ached to tell them. "I.. I..I", I stammered. "What is it, kid? You can tell me freely. I won't bite you.", he said. I mustered the courage to highest level and said with closed eyes, " I love you!" I opened my eyes slowly to see the reactions. My fingers were crossed. I waited for him to speak. He looked stunned. Later he gave his usual charming smile. This confused me. What did that mean? Did he feel the same way as I did?

Consensual-part 3

I was not myself that day. I closed myself from the whole behind the four walls. I had to deal a lot of emotions and that voice kept pulling me down. Why? Why didn't he come? Did he forget or was it on purpose? I felt an urge to call him. But I controlled it. Who am I to him? Nothing! A girl who was in love with him with no expectations. He was never close to me. We hardly spoke.

I kept to myself for few days. I was distant to everyone though it didn't matter to anyone. Food and water was tasteless to me. I hardly felt like eating. Or I could say I hardly felt.

Few days later I saw the miracle approaching towards home. He was in usual tees and black jeans. The clothes were too lose for his skelton body. He had worst dressing choice. Who could wear faded green shirt with weird wordings? Gross! But his smile was more than enough to turn me into his puppy.

I was in the balcony , observing him walk towards the doorstep. As our eyes met, my cheeks reddened. It felt like the epic scene from Romeo and Juliet where I was Juliet anxious of her Romeo.

I walked downstairs hurriedly. There he was with my dad, talking about how the world and politics have changed. As he looked at me, I felt my skin tingle. My heart was beating fast. My mind became blank.

"Shruti, see who has come here to meet you.", my dad called. I was so glued into him that I didn't hear my name being called. "Hi", I said in faint voice. "Hey! Wassup kiddo!", he said. I sat next to my dad. I didn't speak word. Thanks to my dad! He did most of the talking. I prayed for some work to arrive so that dad could leave and I could have privacy with him.

Why did he call me kiddo? I was not a kid. Am I to him? The phone rang admist of the dad's conversation and my thoughts. I picked it up. It was for dad. I gave him the receiver. While he spoke on the phone, I gazed at my love. I gazed at his eyes, looking for the answer for that day.

" I have some work, kid. Meet you sometime.", dad said. I was overjoyed that he was leaving at last. In fee minutes, he and I were alone in complete silence.

How do I ask him? Should I ask him first? I had no experience in all this stuff. But someone had to do the talking.

Consensual -part 2

It had been two years since I knew him. But he was still a mystery to me though I continued to love him more day by day.   Everyday I would get to know a new fact about him. I wouldn't lose any opportunity to meet him. But every time I lay my eyes on him, he would be so preoccupied with his surroundings. He would always be in hurry to leave.

I never had the guts to stop him. Why would I? What was I to him? Nothing , just a student who was in love with him.... Puppy love. Did he ever know how much I loved him. Anyway I didn't stop my feeling for him to grow.

I tried all my best to impress him. I wore prettiest dress and look my best. But his eyes never lay on me. He was more interested in his phone. I always hoped it wasn't his girlfriend. In my deepest ocean of my heart, I wished that I was the first girl in his life.

Today was going to be special day for me. I was going to disclose my feelings to my beloved. As every minute passed, I blushed thinking about the time. How did I get courage to speak to him now? I don't know. Maybe it was my friend Abby's love life that induced me to take the step. Maybe it was also his charm that pushed to tell him truth. I didn't want my love story to end up being unrequited love story.

He had right to know what I feel. So one fine day I called him to tell him that I wanted to share something and therefore wanted to meet him. He agreed to meet though he was bit suspicious of the meeting. We decided to meet at an old cafe at today's evening.

Today came so soon. I was excited and took a lot of time to decide on what to wear and what accessories matched the best. I had changed about dozen dresses to come with a perfect chic look. I also rehearsed on what I was to tell him. After making blunders, I came with the lines I would tell him.

I reached on time. But there was no sign of him. I still waited for him . He didn't show up. My heart pained. Voices started mocking at me. They called me dumb to believe him. I tried blocking my mind. I couldn't. I walked out of the cafe with disappointment but still with a hope he would come back.

Consensual-part 1

Love happens naturally. Every romantic song I listen takes me to the world where I am close to him. Every movie I watch, I tend to replace the lead  actor to him. Every fantasy I dream of him seems so real. It was fact that I was truly, deeply and madly in love with Praveen. However my mind suspected at times about his feelings for me.

A voice would always reprimanded me that Praveen wasn't into me. But I ignored it. I continued to follow my heart. Two years had passéd and my love for him increased day by day.

How can I forget the day I met him for the first time? It was so special. He was tall and extremly gawky looking guy approached me. He had introduced himself as a guy my dad had asked to tutor me for the subject I hated.

I learnt everything except what I was supposed to learn. It wasn't that he was not a good teacher. He was exceptionally good in what he taught. But I was always engrossed into reading his atestical beauty.

His sea blue eyes were like Ocean in which I wanted to sink inside. He had bright smile that bought life into me. He had innocent charm that seduced me into falling in love with me.

Oh love! What a feeling it is? It makes me so incomplete without him. I wanted to share this sweet feeling with him but I kept my mouth zipped in front of him. I didn't want to let him know what I felt for him because of fear that love was associated- heartbreak

Love spell -part 10

After thirtieth call, she picked. There was desperate effort in his voice in the other end. He wanted her back. But she knew this was not possible.

"Hi, why ain't you picking my call? You have been ignoring me more lately. If I have done something wrong, please forgive me.", he said. "You have done nothing wrong. Hmmm... How do I explain you? Let's meet. There are things that only I can explain in person. Come and meet at the graveyard next to Old manor street at 6. ", she said.

Time passes so soon when you don't want to. It was already six and she didn't want to meet him. But she had to as today was the only day where
she could practice the spell. He had arrived early than she expected. He did want to meet her. There was a desperate attempt in his eyes to get her back. How much she wanted to explain him that it wasn't true. But there was no time or choice to explain him. Once the spell was used, he wouldn't remember anything and that killed her every time she thought about it.

"Before you or I say anything, I would like to hug u.", she said and hugged him one last time. He hugged her back, not wanting to let her go. After sometime, she forced herself out of his embrace.

" I want you to know that what I am going to do or say isn't going to be easy for both of us. But I have to. I have no choice. I don't want your innocence to be used by anyone of  for mean purposes.", she said. "I don't understand. What are you saying? ... Please don't tell me you are going to break up with me. Don't! I love you.", he said with shocked expression.

"I am sorry!",she cried and used a spell to hypnotise him. Later she made him to drink the juice and she used protection spell. She then put the ring on to his finger and whispered gently into his ear. She quickly left him in his state.

                            *******

Shelly was back to her normal life . Three months had passed smoothly. She made new friends and focused her energies into new activities. Jon left Rosewood without trace. Rumours were that his dad was transferred to other state. Lizzie was disappointed that she couldn't be the queen bee. But that didn't leave her from trying other methods of using the spells to get her way.

Love Spell- Part 9

She looked at the list again. She had all resources- oranges, pepper, ginger, amber and rotten apple. She was missing something. She even had the spell that could ward off the love charm from Jon. Ah! The ring.. She had to buy the silver ring and cast a protection spell that would protect him against Lizzie’s evil eyes.

She peered at the silver ring. “ This one is cheapest bargain we can offer.”, the jeweler said.  She thought deeply about whether it was worth to spend her energies into releasing something every girl would cherish. Any girl would be happy at her place. She had the guy of her dreams who was in love with her. After taking huge sigh, she agreed to buy it. She had to get him out of this shit very soon. She didn’t care about being lucky or not. What mattered now was his freedom from this craziness she had gotten him into.

She was walking towards home when she passed the Mysticism shop – one store for all the witches of Rosewood.  She strolled inside the shop. As she looked through what she required for her last spell, she bumped into Lizzie and gang. “ Well! Well! Who do we see here?”, Lizzie mocked.  “ So what are you doing here, miss perfect two shoes?  This place is only for the witches and from what I learn , you are no longer one of us.”, Lizzie continued.

“ I am still a witch until this mess is cleared. You do require someone as your competition. Won’t you get bored with too many followers?”, Shelly gave her back. “ Ha! You… a competition! You are too puny to be a competition for me.”, Lizzie teased. Shelly didn’t reply back. She didn’t wanted to spend her precious time fighting with her.  She hurriedly took the things she wanted and rushed out of the shop.

                                                            ***********

Jon had called her for the fiftieth time. She hadn’t answered. It had been days since she had walked away from him that day. His mind ridiculed him for the wrong things he might have done. But as he travelled into his memory of when he had hurted her, nothing traced out. It was like as if that part of memory had blanked out.

He loved her so much. Why didn’t she understand that? Did she ever love him? Then why did she question his love? He dialed her number one more time , hopelessly expecting she would pick up.

Love spell-part 8

Shelly was perplexed about what Lizzie said. She would be helping her out with finding the cure. Why? Lizzie wanted this. Was she bored? What was she up to? Questions revolved in her head. “ Why are you doing this, anyway?”, she asked. Lizzie wasn’t startled by her question. She answered her with the truth,

“Well! Change in the plan! Since I am the head, I get to be his arm candy.” “ It was your idea to try the spell on us. Now all of sudden, you want to be the queen bee.  Ah! Do whatever you feel  like? I am done with this.”, Shelly said, leaving the group that had taken her life.

“ Ha!  See Ms Perfect little shoes leaving the group! You think others would accept you with open hands. Never!!”, Lizzie mocked. “ Don’t you say those words! I am not your pawn anymore. I will never come back even if no one accepts me. I am my own master from now on and don’t belong to any such weird groups. One more thing I would like to say before I leave, I will find the cure and set him free from your spell. I don’t need anybody’s help.”, Shelly replied firmly to her mockery. “Nice farewell speech! Best of luck!” , Lizzie said.

Shelly didn’t turn back and for the first time she smiled brightly. The sun was shining on her way. Bright  days were coming back. But she had to do one last task. She had to find the cure soon before Lizzie finds out.

She hadn’t met him for days. Her heart and soul was focused in finding cure. Every spell she tried, it failed miserably. She spent sleepless nights reading the spell book to find the right cure. All doors were looking closed but she didn’t give up.

It was one of full moon nights when she was browsing the net for a breakthrough. As she read through, she found an old recipe of drink that promised to bring the person back from a witch spell. Everything she tried had promised to do the same, but they had all failed. She thought of using it without any expectation or hope.

Love Spell-part 7

She was reading her favorite classic – Romeo and Juliet. She dreamed of being Juliet whose Romeo was truly in love with her. Where was her Romeo? Jon wasn’t her Romeo. Indeed he was in love with her but that love wasn’t true. Her heart ached with every minute of realization that her love wasn’t hers. It was a fiction created by her friends and her with a spell. When Lizzie was tired with playing with the spell, she would use the other spell to make him normal.

“ Hey, what are you thinking?”, he asked while brushing few strands of hair from her face. “ Nothing..do you really love me?”, she replied him with a question. “ What kind of question is this? I am in love with you. Truly, deeply and madly!”, he said, emphasizing on the phrase ‘ truly, deeply and madly’. She left him without saying anything. He looked confused with her sudden departure.

He wondered about what he had said that made her leave. He wanted to follow her but his mind stopped him.

She cried her heart out. She couldn’t play this game anymore with her heart. Every time she looked at his eyes, she found nothing in it. This was not love. It was just a fabrication. Every time she tried to tell him the truth, he would rebuff her , telling her that she was simply suspecting their love.  How was she going to make him believe that what he believes is love is nothing but a lie? The only way to get him out was to find a cure.

Lizzie was getting bored with the spell. She got what she wanted. She could finally call herself a witch. But she wasn’t satisfied. There was something missing. Ah yes! She wanted to be the center of all the attention. Shelly had her share. Now she wanted the guy. She hated whenever Shelly was showered with love from him. Shelly would disappoint the poor guy with her cold behaviour. But Lizzie was not going to be like her. She was going to use him for the popularity she wanted. She wanted to take the place of Raven- the queen bee of high school.

Before she could get her plans executed, she had to get Jon. Shelly was key to Jon and getting Shelly on her side was a piece of cake. She knew Shelly wouldn’t mind breaking the spell. She was never into him. Perfect! She had to make Shelly believe that she was going to help her get the cure.

Love spell-part 6

He stood at the entrance of a book store. He had never stepped inside any book store in his life. He always felt that the books were for geeks and he was not a geek. He contemplated on whether to go in or come out.
After long hiatus, he walked inside. The place smelled of books both new and old. It turned his tummy upside down. He ignored his sickness while he searched her everywhere. She was there when he had walked in. Now she wasn’t there. A salesperson approached him and asked, “ Can I help you?” “ No thanks! Looking for someone.” , he replied and put his hand on his hair.

After walking like a lost puppy, he found her leaning on the shelf. She had her eyes closed. It seemed like as if she was hiding from someone. He nudged her and said, “ Hi! What happened?” She didn’t look surprised when she saw him. “ Huh! Are you following me or something? Why are you here?”, she asked furiously.
He stepped back with fear. “ I didn’t mean to scare you! I just wanted to have a cup of coffee with you.”, he said softly.

She stared hard at him. She could see the love in his eyes. But it wasn’t true one. It hurt her badly. “ Fine! One cup of coffee.. That’s all!” , she agreed. He jumped with excitement at her reply.

                                              **************

“ So how was the coffee date?”, Lizzie asked. “ It wasn’t a date. I had a cup of coffee only to please you. Hope you are pleased!” , Shelly said sarcastically. All the other members tried to stop her from being modest through their eyes. But Shelly ignored them and continued, “ He was so into me while I sipped coffee. I hardly spoke as you ordered me to do. He kept talking about his life and me. I simply ignored him. Now are you happy ?”  Lizzie folded her hands and replied, “ Oh! I think I am. But you should be happy. It was your idea, not mine. We are just the executioner of your idea.” Shelly looked at her with disgust.

Every day had become routine. She had to meet him as per Lizzie’s instruction. Her heart would break everyday to see that he loved her because of the spell. She still wondered why she was following her when she could boycott them outright. They were never her friends. They were pawns used by her loneliness.

Love spell -part 5

Shelly sat quietly engrossed into her physics notes at the library. There were other references books spread over her table. She was too busy in decoding the meaning from the text that she didn’t take notice of someone pulling a chair across her.  She was reading the same text for half an hour when the stranger sweared, “ Damn this problem!”  When everyone hushed him, he realised that he was too loud.

For the first time, Shelly raised her eyes to have clear look at the guy who had disturbed her precious concentration. It was Jon. “Jeez! Don’t let the spell come true!”, she wondered. She was about to leave when he said , “ I am sorry. I…”  He was lost in words. “ Never mind! I have to go.”, she said, leaving him confused. “ Wait!! Wait!”, he called as he followed her.

“ You can have a cup of coffee with me if you have some time.”, he said. She stopped suddenly and turned. She walked towards him and snatched his book. She scribbled something on it and left after handing the book. He opened the book to see what she had written. It was the solution to the problem. “ Oh! Beauty with brain!”, he thought.

She was neither very pretty nor ugly. She was an average girl. She dressed mostly in Gothic. She wasn’t Jon’s type. Still Jon had lost his heart to this mysterious girl. She had taken control of most of his imagination. The events replayed in his mind every time he was idle. His conversation with his friends would start with the mysterious girl and end with the topic on her. His friends were getting bored of it.

He searched for her everywhere but it was hard. She wasn’t normal kind of girl. She would come early to school and leave by afternoon when he would be practicing basket ball. She was not like the other girls who would strive to be visible to him. She was shady, trying to hide from him. He wondered why.

He should have asked her name instead he had asked her for a coffee. How lame could he be?  But she had left before he could ask her anything. It wasn’t his mistake.

Lizzie watched him staring at Shelly with everlasting desire to talk. At last the spell was working. Jon was becoming spellbound in love. This is what she wanted.  Who would fall for the girl like Shelly? The spell indeed was powerful. Now it was time to get things moving. “Girls, I think this is enough of us pretending to ignore. I think he is under control. Let’s get with the next step.”, she said while others smiled at their triumph. However Shelly was disheartened.

Love spell-part 4

Next day arrived with hopes and setbacks. Shelly waited eagerly next to the locker area for Lizzie. She knew that Lizzie never missed the first hour of the school. She was the smart one in the group.. the one who always grabs ‘A’ in all the subjects.

The first bell rang , indicating there was five minutes for the first hour to start. Students started dispersing to their class. There was chattering everywhere. The second bell rang signifying the class had started already and all the students were required to get inside.  The crowd started dwindling with few laughter here and there. Shelly didn’t give up. She had to see her friend.

One minute was left when Lizzie arrived. Shelly was done with lingering around her friend. “Lizzie, I need to speak to you about our trial.” , she said excitedly. “Hush! You know the rules! We don’t speak out our secrets loud.” , Lizzie snorted. Shelly flushed with embarrassment, “ I am sorry for forgetting the rules but this one is urgent.” Lizzie closed her eyes in anger and opened it with ball of fire in them. “ I said we don’t shout our secrets loud! Which part of it don’t you understand, weirdo? I don’t change things just like that. So when I say something, it’s final. You have no word in it! “, she snapped at her.

Shelly nodded out of fear as well as disillusionment of why she didn’t stand up for herself or why she didn’t walk out of this nonsense? Instead she saw herself saying ‘yes’ to her whimsical demand. How much she wanted to break off from her clutch. She couldn’t do it.

They walked inside the class. The school hours passed as usual. Boring lectures on how to make life simple was getting annoying. The school got over but torture hadn’t yet started. Shelly walked with her friends to their usual adda for starting their spell. She wanted to leave them by snooping towards home. But it wouldn’t work. Lizzie was too smart to spot her.

“ Guys, we would be starting our sacred ceremony today. The day is right and time is perfect. We have all the resources. Let’s do it!”, Lizzie said. Everyone were apprehensive at first but they were used to following their head. However Shelly protested mildly, “ But you said that this event was going to take place in full moon. It is not even past noon.” “ Rules change, Sweety! Who says we should have the ceremony today.”,

Lizzie argued.  No one dared to raise their hands and kept quiet. She ordered others to the task and Shelly meekly followed her rules.

They gathered branches and lit fire on it. They stood in a circle with Shelly standing inside the circle. They held hands and started their proposed activity.

“ My friends, we are here to start this sacred ceremony. Let’s close our eyes and chant the verses to call our godmother to step on our world and be with us. Oh godmother! We are here to offer you our own member. Accept it as our humble gift…”, Lizzie said as everyone followed what she said and chanted the spell , they had half knowledge.

Love spell-part 3

She waited for Lizzie at their meeting place. The place was a ground next to an abandoned cottage.  She had chosen it carefully. It was hideous and no one came to this place.

While she waited for her, she listened to Taylor Swift Invisible. The lyrics described her situation best. She replayed it again and again until she by hearted the words in her mind. Lizzie wasn’t there. It wasn’t her habit of coming late. “Where was she?”, she wondered.

An hour had passed. There was still no sign of her. She imagined two options on her mind- She could have forgotten or maybe she could have ignored her plea. She started to leave when she saw someone familiar approaching her. “ Who could it be?”, she thought.

It was him. He wore bright red shirt with blue jeans. His hair was brushed backward. The gel had given a glossy effect to his hair. His skin was clear and soft though his features were sharp. His blue grey eye changed their movement as per their expressions as he spoke ,“ Hi! Do you know where is this place?”
He was one arm distance towards her. He showed her the card which disclosed the address he wanted to go.  Her heart raced whenever he came closer to her.

“ I am going there. I could take you.”, she said softly. He joined her without speaking any word. Her body shivered whenever his hand brushed her fingers. She knew it wasn’t purpose. However she wished it was. They didn’t speak anything to each other except occasionally smiling at each other.

Her house had arrived. “ This is it! My house has arrived.”, she said.  She showed him that his destiny was two blocks ahead.  He left her , politely thanking her. She felt sad that he was not going to remember her next day.

When her mind was free from the fantasies of Jon, she called Lizzie many times. Her frustration had no bounds now. She left a voice mail for her,” Hi Lizzie! What’s going on? I asked you to meet me at the old ranch. Why didn’t you come?”

Lizzie was there when Shelly sent a voicemail. She simply deleted it. Her ideas and beliefs were everything to her. She would do anything to get her things done. No one would ever change her mind. She had to make Shelly be her subject in one of notorious experiment. Shelly was her chosen one and no one except her could replace her subjects.

Love spell-part 2

It was the usual summer afternoon. The sun was in it’s blazing best. But it didn’t affect Shelly and her friends. They were at the ground at the graveyard which was covered with green shades of California black oak trees. Shelly had her last sip of orange lemonade. She listened inattentively to what her head of her group said. Nothing interested her. It was only Gothicism and the discussion was more about the spells they planned to use on their worst enemies.

When her mind was idle, she would fantasize about the imaginary times with Jon. She would smile or frown without reason. She was bounded by thoughts of him. There was not a single minute where she didn’t think of him. Spells and witchcraft was myth to her. It simply didn’t exist in the world. How can speaking out strange words drive so much energy?  It made her laugh whenever she thought of it. But she had to fit in someplace and her friends cum Gothic fan were misfits themselves who pursued this culture to get away from the feeling of misfit.

Unfortunately today turned out to be miserable for her when the head of the group, Lizzie , saw her not participating in the discussions. “ What do you think, Shelly? Which spell do you think we must experiment?”, Lizzie asked. Shelly was oblivious of what was happening. She woke up suddenly to the reality. Thus her head started to pound. She rubbed her head to reduce the pain. It didn’t reduce. However she had to give a response and blurted out without thinking, “ Love spell!!”  She repented on what she said. But the damage was already done.

Everyone voted majority on what she said. “ Wow!! That’s could be fun. We need subjects for this.”, everybody said.  After a lot of brainstorming, they closed on two subjects- Jon and Shelly. Shelly was pretty much against on thought of trying the spell. She protested initially and then later she agreed when she heard about the benefits.

Shelly couldn’t sleep the whole night. She was getting apprehensive about the choice she made. She felt weak kneed when she was close to him. Though he never looked at her, but his sudden gaze at her would send shivers down her spine. How was she going to be with him with side effects breaking her confidence? She had to speak to Lizze about replacing her with other girl as female subject.

Love spell-part 1

Rosewood was a small town across the city of Ontario. The town was bustling with people carrying out peaceful life. Schools, markets and small business thrived around the small town. Weather was extreme with severe hot summers and freezing winters. Irrespective of the weather, crime free neighbourhood attracted many immigrants from all over the world. Friendship and love were easily found in this place. It was a perfect place for Shelly until she lost her heart to the most popular boy of the town- Jon McGuire.

She wasn’t the member of cheerleading squad. She wasn’t even a geek. She fell in middle- lost among the crowd. She didn’t belong anywhere. She had few friends with whom she hung around. She was an invisible teenager. She tried to fit into crowd. But she failed miserably. She lost interest in all these until her heart followed Jon.  However every girl tried to steal his attention. He was tall and lean. His atheletic body with smoldering blue grey eyes attracted girls.

Unfortunately she was mediocre girl with big dreams. She didn’t have any qualities that would attract attention. She didn’t have ‘Barbie’ like features. She was tagged as gothic though she didn’t fully believe in that culture. Her friends had forced her into being member of witchcraft and Gothicism.

Following was better than alienating to her. She wondered what her friend found cool in it. She hated that she couldn’t wear anyother colour except black. However she had no choice than accept a faith blindly.
Anyway, it didn’t matter to anyone including Jon. Even if she wore nothing, people would ignore her.

Nevertheless she wished deep in her heart that he would look at her once at least and feel the love she had for him. But that was never going to happen when Jon had attention of Raven- the prettiest girl of the school.

Russian roulette-part 19

She read the headlines once more. She pinched herself to digest the truth. He was arrested for murdering her friend. “ Thanks Andrei. This means a lot for me.”, she said to her friend. When she discussed about Shady being Nina’s murderer, Andrei filed a case against Shady and arrested him.

“ Don’t thank me. It has been tough for you to stand against love of your life. You helped us to track down his activities without taking care of yourself. It’s a great loss that we couldn’t save Nina. But I guess Nina would be happy that you put her murderer behind bars.”, Andrei said.

She got back to the business with her nonstop performance. She became constant target of Shady’s allies. His enemies tried to lure her into supporting them. However she didn’t stand with anyone.

Few months passed by. It looked like the sun was emerging from the dark clouds. Her life continued to move in normal pace. But she was destined to sad and grief filled life. Happiness was her short lived friend. Sorrow was her best friend.

                                                          *******  The present day   **********

Seven years had passed. She had taken the club to new heights. She was dancer during the night and it’s owner by the morning. She had sent the young 14 year old girls bought by Shady home. She replaced them with her friends who had lost their jobs.

Shady was serving his term in jail for all the heinous crime. Fortunately his term was cut short with help of his friends from the corrupt politics. He emerged from his hibernation as a wounded tiger. He had heard the success stories of Inna taking over his club. He had to get it back. But first he had to kill Inna.

He walked into his club without being identified.  He took the front row to see his spurned lover dancing. She was looking angelic in the outfit she wore. Her moves were flawless and why wouldn’t it be? He had pushed her to greater heights and she had pushed him down.

He took out his favorite weapon- revolver at her. He shot her on her chest. When he triggered the second bullet, it fired the chamber and killed him instantly.  Inna tried to get up to look at Shady one last time. But the pain didn’t let her get up on her feet. She was bleeding profusely. There was commotion everywhere.
Patracia and the others called the ambulance. It was too late. She was already dead. Her soul had risen up to heaven.

Russian roulette-part 18

She looked out for her everywhere. She had even visited her hometown. But she wasn’t there. Her constant worry was not hidden from a close friend of hers, Andrei.  They were sitting in the coffee shop when Andrei asked her, “ What’s troubling you? Is it Nina?” “ Yes, I am sure that she is in deep trouble. I have looked for her everywhere. I don’t understand whether she is hiding or been kidnapped. But the weird part is that Shady is not at all worried by mysterious disappearance of his girls.”, she replied.

“ O Bozhe!  I hope she is fine. I could help you out. Don’t worry! She will be fine.”, he consoled her and held her hand. Shady’s spies were trying to decode what their master’s girlfriend was doing. But it was difficult. However they interpreted their actions to something else. They quickly took the pictures and messaged them to Shady.

Shady saw the pictures and threw his phone out of rage. He had started to hate the person he thought he had loved. “ How could she? “, he snapped. He messaged them back to send him more proofs.

He waited patiently for her. She arrived by noon. She had to get prepared for her performance. She headed to the bedroom. Before she could reach for the door, he pushed her towards the wall and  put his both hands on either side so that she didn’t have a place to get out. She was petrified on what was going on. Her eyes were wide open and she felt numb. “ I didn’t know there was evil behind your innocent face. How could you?”, he said. He was quite close to her and his breath smelt of whiskey. She looked at his eyes desperately searching for the meaning in his eyes. His eyes were cold , concealing the feeling he felt.

“ What are you saying? What did I do?”, she asked. “ Don’t act innocent. I know what you are doing with that scoundrel Andrei. I loved you and you broke my trust.”, he said. “ I didn’t break your trust. I swear there is nothing going between us. I am yours..always yours.”, she defended herself. “ Those words don’t suit you, whore.”, he mocked at her. She slapped him tight and screamed, “ How dare you call me that? I met Andrei to discuss the mysterious disappearance of Nina. You aren’t even worried about her. But I do.. she’s my friend.” His face felt red and blurted the truth, “ I killed her! I killed that menace out of our life. She was suspecting me.” The truth was bitter and hurt Inna badly. She walked out of his house.

When she was far away, she cried badly. She cursed the God for making her life miserable and bringing Shady into life. The anchor of her life had actually doomed her life.

Russian roulette-part 17

Thoughts about Nina’s sorrowful expression tortured her mind. She wasn’t able to focus on what Shady had said. He had been talking about future plans. Instead of being involved with the discussion, she was thinking about her friend. “ What happened , honey? You look tensed.”, he asked , gently brushing her hair.  She nodded in negative. But he wasn’t convinced. He became suspicious about her. “ Did she get to know about his plans. Hope not! The time wasn’t right for any confrontation. He hated confrontations. He always looked for final solution. That solution included someone’s death.

She had to talk to Nina. There was something brewing inside her. Why would she call her so many times when she knew Shady well?  She waited for the next day desperately. She couldn’t sleep well. Her constant shifting on the bed disturbed Shady. “ What’s bothering you, baby? Why aren’t you sleeping? Is the bed too uncomfortable?”, he asked out of concern.  “ No darling! It’s just that I am very excited to be with you. I still need to believe in this dream.”, she lied. “  Sweety, you don’t even know how to lie. Don’t you trust me? Share it with me.”, he said.  After a long pause, she shared her deepest concern.

“ Hmmm.. don’t worry. Speak to her about you doubts. I hope she clarifies you.”, he said , sounding genuine. He started thinking about the cause of Nina’s doubt. He had to see Nina  during the morning.
Next morning he called Nina to his office. He made sure Inna knew nothing about his meeting with Inna. “ I heard you being worried about Inna’s life. What is bothering you?”he asked. Nina was surprised at his question.  Why was he asking her that?  She had to brush his suspicions. “ Oh no!  I was missing her. You know that she is like a shining light in the house. My place has become cold without her.”, she lied. But shrewd Shady caught her lie. “ Whom are you hiding from? Tell me what you know. I am aware that you know something that you want to tell Inna.”, he said straight forward.  Shock had numbed her from top to bottom. But she didn’t open her mouth.  She dared not to open her mouth even if she had to lose her life.

He lost his patience when he asked her with varying degrees of tones. When talking didn’t work, he took out his revolver and shot her instantly. Nina died on spot due to bleeding in the brain. He got the body dumped and spread the news that Nina had run away.

Inna didn’t digest the news well. She knew Nina too well.  She would  never run away from tough situation. She was going to find her.

Russian roulette-part 16 b

Shady was at his den , staring at the pictures of his love cheating on him. He had enough proof with him to prove his love’s dishonesty. When he got to know for the first time, he didn’t digest the fact easily. He had bashed the spy hard until he believed him. He wanted to shoot Inna on spot. But he controlled his temper and waited for the right moment. It wasn’t the right moment to butcher the goat. He had to feed the goat well with love and compassion. When it was fat, he was going to kill it.

His heart ached to know that the goat was Inna. “ Why did you break my heart? Was my love not enough for you? What did you get in doing this?”, he wondered.

His token of gift to her was to induce her to fall for the trap. When she was inside, he was going to finish her. He had to be careful to not let Inna suspect him. The best gift was to get her stay with him. The only way was to give her bait in form of marriage. She would surely accept it.

He walked towards the bar and made himself a drink. He shaked it in order to make it taste better. He sipped it and thought about what he was going to do next with her. He had to play safe.

“ Are you sure? Did he seriously mean what he was saying?” , Nina wanted to say. But she kept quite. Instead she congratulated Inna on her engagement. She was happy but sad that all this was not true. She had seen the other day when he was talking to other man about Inna’s disloyalty. She had heard them speak about how he was going trick her and remove her from his life. She hated Shady more than she had for breaking her friend’s heart. She knew her friend wouldn’t believe her. But she had to tell her about the real face of Shady. She attempted to disclose the reason for why he wanted to hurt her friend. At last she knew the reason.  But the reason didn’t convince . She knew Inna wouldn’t do that. If she ever showed the true face of Shady, she wouldn’t believe.

Whenever Nina tried to warn her friend, something would crop between them. It was time for Inna to leave. “ If you need help, call me. I will always be there for you. Don’t fret. Think about me when you need me. ”, she said. “ I know that you will be always there for me.” , Inna replied.

Inna walked downstairs and turned to see her friend in the balcony. She was worried and tensed. Inna assumed her depressed look to feeling of missing her. But something told her that it wasn’t normal for her friend to say those lines. It didn’t mean that she wouldn’t have said when there was nothing wrong. But the way Nina had emphasized on the words of ‘always be there’ told her something was wrong. She had to know the reason and planned to ask her the next day.

Russian roulette-part 16 a

Two years had passed. The relationship between Inna and Shady  grew stronger and beautiful. He would bring flowers to her every day. It had become his routine to ask her about her well being. He made sure that he would drop her home safely. He would be present in the club to witness her performance.

It was her eighteen birthday. Shady wanted to make it special for her. He had presented many expensive gifts for her birthday. “ What should I gift her this birthday?” , he wondered. He knew that if he asked her about what she wanted for her birthday, she would say that he was her precious gift from god. An idea struck him after a lot of thinking.

It was midnight. As usual he was dropping her home. When they arrived the destination, he stopped the engine and got out of the car. He opened the car door for her. She was aware of his unusual way of celebrating her birthday. But she didn’t know what he was up to. He bent down on one leg and asked her for her hand. She gave her hand nervously. Her heart was racing against every passing minute. What was he doing? Was he going to propose? Her cheeks blushed. “ Will you marry me?”, he asked as the perspiration rolled from his face.  She waited for a long time and cried out   ‘Yes’.

He slipped a huge diamond ring into her finger.  She wept as she hugged him. “ Thank you! This is the best gift you have ever given. I love you .”, she said, taking breath in between. “ My surprise is not yet over. I have got so more. Close your eyes.”, he said excitedly , covering her eyes.

He released his hand away from her eyes. He handed her keys. “ This is my house keys. You are moving in with me.”, he said slowly. Inna couldn’t control her emotions and replied, “ I can’t take this. You have given me so much.” “ No baby, this is nothing. However you are going to move in with me later. Why not now?”, he said huskily. His charm was enough to melt her heart and she had to accept his offer.

She walked inside her house with joy in her eyes. She didn’t expect a man who had phobia to commit was going to marry. She looked at her ring. It was an expensive diamond stone. She wondered about how much he loved her. She hadn’t felt so happy for a long time. She was going to start  a family at last.

He was driving home when his phone rang. He picked it up and said, “ Hi, She will be moving in tomorrow. She will be under my surveillance from now on. Thanks for your service. I would not require your service now. I can take care of this mess.” He disconnected the call and gave a wicked smile.

Russian roulette-part 15

She held his hand tight. She didn’t let her grasp on his firm hand for a second. He never took his eyes out of her. He looked at her side , capturing her beauty in his heart. He didn’t want the night to get over soon.

Was this love? He didn’t understand. But he had never taken any girl to any of his private parties. It was always other way round. He would end up hooking with his friend’s girlfriends or mistresses. This was first time that he was head over heels about a girl. There was not a single moment when he thought of kissing her deep. But he controlled his emotions. It was a party in his club. There were many people around and he didn’t want them to see his emotion pouring out for a girl.

She was impressed by his manners. He was indeed groomed well and knew how to take care of a lady. She was especially amazed by the way he introduced her to all of his friends. It was more like the way one introduces his wife to his friends. He was gentle in the way he held her. There was no force like what Boris used to do. He made his women feel comfortable. She loved him because of this.

He guided her to the seats next to the stage. It was her time when she was going to be the audience to the performance of her mates.

She was enjoying to her surprise. She didn’t expect that. She thought that she would hate the performance. The girls were doing their best, trying to overshadow her. But people missed her performance tonight.
The time passed smoothly. She didn’t notice that half the night had passed. She wasn’t getting bored among the people. She was glad that she could add to some of his conversation with his friends. She was not looked as some blonde or property. Maybe it was because of Shady’s presence. She felt like queen amongst the people. They never judged her in front of Shady.

It was end of the party. People were leaving with great memories and new associates. Shady left his new found love home safely. As she left the car, she kissed him on his cheeks. He blushed and said , “ I hope you enjoyed your night. Take rest.”  She quickly went inside her apartment. She lay on her bed with sweet memories of him.

Sparks were flying between them. They were realizing it slowly. They wanted to take their relationship to the next step. But Shady was still dealing with his commitment phobia. He wasn’t sure that whether he could do it.

Russian roulette-part 14

It was morning within minutes. She hadn’t slept the whole night. When her eyes closed finally, she slept soundly. But the miserable alarm rang, blowing her sleep away. She got up with her head pounding. She washed her face and noticed the dark circles around the eyes. “ Der’mo! How will I perform like this?” she scolded herself. The beauty sleep was necessary for all the dancers. A small mark on the body except the body art was looked at as sin. She worried constantly about what Shady was going to tell her when he saw her like this. She thought of an excuse that she could make to avoid today’s performance.

She called Nina in panic. She showed her the dreadful dark circles. “ What should I do with this? I can’t go like this.”, she said shockingly.  Nina looked around to find a solution to this mess. “ I am not going tonight. I will call in sick.”, Inna said. “ You can’t lie to Shady. He won’t buy this.”, Nina said. Both desperately thought of ways to come out of this situation.

“ What are you girls thinking?” Shady said. His voice shook the girls. They hadn’t noticed Shady arrive. They both lied no. Inna bent her eyes and tried not to look at Shady. Shady felt the uneasiness in Inna. He grabbed her and straightened her. He cupped her face to look at her clearly. She tried to get away from him. But strength overpowered her. He saw what she was hiding from him. “ You shall not go tonight. You will be with me, watching others perform.”, he said, startling her.  She opened  her mouth to say something. But words struggled to come out. She shut her mouth , knowing that he would not answer her doubts.

He didn’t bother to answer her doubts and left her speechless. When he was gone, Nina said, “ Don’t you see that he loves you? He has never taken his girls too seriously. You are his first…first girl from his troop to go out on a date with him. Wow!” Inna wanted to believe Nina’s words.

“ Come on Nina! There is nothing happening between us.”she said , controlling her tears. “ Don’t stop me from telling the truth. You will know that he loves you one day.” Nina made her point.

Night came with excitement and tensions. Inna had mixed feelings churning inside her heart. She had changed over fifty dresses until she wore best one. She took almost two hours to decorate her face. She wasn’t convinced after long hours of Nina convincing her that she look good. Inna wanted to drop the idea of going with him. Her tummy trembled and every muscle worked against her.

He arrived in his dashing best. She fell in love with him all over again. All her tensions dried up and she waited eagerly for the night with him.

Russian roulette -part 13

Inna was still in shock. She felt cold beneath the warm jacket. Nina consoled her. But nothing worked. She couldn’t get out of it. Shady walked inside the dressing room. It was the first time that he was in the dressing room of his dancers. He held her hands and asked, “ How are you feeling now?”

“ How should I be feeling? You tell me. Why did you have to do this? Why did you help me? You ignore me but in the same time you hurt those who abuse me. What should I do?”, she cried. Tears ruined her makeup. Her eyeliner was smudged. Her hair was scruffy, giving her wild look. He had no answer for that question. Why did he do this to himself? Why was he not able to ignore people who hurt her?

“ If this incident happened to any of my staff, I would have approached the offenders the same way.”, he said and left the room. She cried miserably , hugging Nina.

Shady’s heart pinched for what he did. He threw away the stuffs on the table in fit of rage. He ran his fingers on his hair and banged his fist on the table. He felt something soft hold his fist. He turned to look at Inna rubbing his fist to ease the pain. “ Thank you and sorry. I should have thanked you instead I was complaining.”, she whispered softly. Her voice was too soft for him to hear. However he understood what she was trying to say.

“ You shouldn’t be here. You know that I am not the kind of man you want to fall in love.” , he warned.  “ Don’t tell me to stay away from you!  We both know that we can’t. I love you and you love me too. I have seen that today when you came to protect me.”, she argued.  He nodded his head in disgust. Why didn’t she understand the complication?  “ I told you then and I am telling you now. I will always protect my staff and I did exactly that. You are no exception. Don’t assume my actions to love.” he defended himself.  Inna didn’t believe his argument and kissed him to prove him wrong. It wasn’t planned, a sudden action that left both of them bliss.

Her red lips tasted of strawberry. She reminded of the days that he wanted to do this. He caressed her body as he sucked her mouth. He could feel her hear beat hard when she was doing this. Her nervous hands clenched his hair tight. He felt the pain but ignored it. He was engrossed into exploring her mouth.

He felt someone open the door and pushed Inna aside. Inna looked disoriented and wondered what went wrong. It was one of his men. “ Sir, Mr. Aleksei is waiting for you.” , his henchman said. He brushed his hair to make him look presentable. He was almost at the door when he said , “ Go home, Inna. We will talk about this tomorrow.”  Inna left the room without saying anything. She knew that he would avoid her and forget about the night.

Russian roulette-part 12

She sat on the cold marble floors, weeping hysterically. The reason was not that she performed terribly bad at the club. It was because of her lost lover giving her cold vibes. She knew it was useless to hope something sweet from Shady. He was known for being emotionless maniac with unpredictable mood swings.

She should have known he was no good for her. But still she gave her heart to him only to get it broken. “ Why does this happen to me? Is my life going to be always like this- sad and depressing?” she cried.  Her oasis of happiness was a mirage.

Shady watched her cry from the footage captured in the security camera. He had huge television which only showed the videos of his staff’s activities. His suspicious nature always kept him on his toes if he found any of his employees trying to stab him from behind. Nowadays it had become a habit for him to look into what Inna was doing and how she was feeling. He got attracted to her more every day. It pained his heart to see her cry every day.

He knew loving her would mean to break his principle. Thus he would create shield that would protect him from falling into her charms. But doing this never helped him. It hurt him more to see his beloved getting wounded by his actions. He couldn’t help doing this. He switched off the TV as soon as he saw her crying.

It was another day of entertaining the guests of the club. The seasons never affected Shady’s business. People flocked any hour of any day into his bar and became Shady’s loyal customers. This was all because of Inna and her breathtaking performance.

Inna was standing on the stage. She prepared for her dance once the music started. As usual, she started with her sensual moves. She walked around the pole with one hand holding it and bent her legs. She didn’t allow her legs to touch the feet. Some drunkard men who were sitting next to stage made lewd gestures at her. She ignored them and continued with her dance. She started stripping her bra , unveiling her blossoms.
Her back was turned towards those men. They whistled loudly and shouted, “Come on,  girl. We can’t see your gorgeous tits.”

Inna was embarrassed by their comments. She couldn’t concentrate on other dance moves. Suddenly one of the men climbed the stage and forcibly move her and show her to his other friends sitting down. They laughed loudly and Inna sobbed slowly.

It didn’t take a minute for Shady to step on the stage and grab the girl from the man’s hands. He put his coat on her and shielded her from the men.  He snatched the collar of Inna’s abuser and said, “ If you touch her like that again, you get from me. She is not your property.” The man didn’t think twice to retaliate back. He knew who Shady was and took his friends out of the club.

Russian roulette-part 11

He continued the meeting with his staff and ignored her completely. She didn’t take it lightly. She walked up to him and screamed, “ How dare you ? Last night you made love to me and now you treat me like shit. Am I nothing to you?”  “ You are like every other girl I spend the night with. Don’t make a difference… and you have already done this with Boris. Why do you act strange as if you have lost chastity?” , he mocked. She was surprised to hear from the man she gave everything. “ Who are you? I don’t understand you.”, she said. “ You and I share only an employer-employee relationship. Last night was a mistake. Hope I made it clear and now you can leave.”, he said firmly.

She left the room , shocked and heartbroken. She wanted to lock herself in the room. But she couldn’t do that. Her life was not hers… she lives for serving others. There was no escape for her. She was in this business for long time and it would remain till she died.

She prepared for the night. She had to make the people beg for more. She practiced her moves for hours together until she mastered it. She chose the dress and matched it with the stilettos for her act. She tried to take beauty sleep before the show began. But the letter and his words reminded her the worth of her life.
She cried for sometime till her heart felt better. But she felt miserable and wasted.

He was alone, thinking about what he had said. He knew that he was red. But he was always that way-snobbish was his middle name. He had explained it clearly in the letter that he wasn’t a lover boy. He was a heart breaker. Although there were times when he wished that he wasn’t. These moments were with her when he could hold and never wanted to let her go.

He should have spoken to her instead of writing her letter. It was better he could have heard her speak too and settled this issue then and there itself. Unfortunately he had no courage to face her. Her big wide eyes were more than enough to melt him.

She had done this before – while she was furious about him using her. Her angry eyes had already made him change his mind unless he didn’t control it. Love! He had tried to not to fall for this sweet trap. Alas! He had fallen for her and there was no way out. However this new found was not going to last because of the person he is.

He had to be bad and evil towards though he didn’t want to. But what else could he do? He didn’t want her to get attached to him…and even worse was disappointing her.

Russian roulette -part 10

She felt tiny under his huge arms.  He wasn’t bulky though. But his stature made him look that way. He was only inches taller than her. However he was stronger than her.  After few minutes, he released her and only held her face. He stared at her red lips, touching it with his fingers. It was soft and kissable. He tried to control his desire to kiss them hard. He wanted her bad and in the same moment questioned his desire.

He released her suddenly and walked back. She looked stunned at his sudden withdrawal. Later he stopped and rushed towards her. He took her once again and kissed her. He kissed her hungrily. She wished the time to stand still.  She wanted to capture every moment and hide it deep inside her heart.

He loved her sweet breath and soft lips. He also loved the way she became vulnerable when he touched her. As the kiss became more intense, he moved his hands from her face and brushed her hair softly. He then caressed her neck and petite waist. He released her from kiss and took a deep breath. “ You are so beautiful.”, he said with warm smile and took her in his arms. He moved towards the bedroom where they passionately made love. He showed her love that she was waiting for so long.

She had become a part of him that night. But whether he belonged to her was big question. The birds chirping outside gave the sign that day had started. It was impossible to know whether it was a day or night with dark curtains shielding the sun rays. She woke up to see him missing. She didn’t realize when he had gone.  She saw a neatly folded letter kept on the bed side table. She opened it eagerly which read :

“ Inna,

Yesterday’s night was splendid. I enjoyed every bit of it. I bet even you enjoyed it. Yours eyes speak a lot and I feel you might take this seriously. But I wish you haven’t. You and I cannot be together. I am not the kind of person that you would like to lead your life with. I have dark past and that will come between us.
You are sweet and young. You deserve the best.

Please forget what had happened between us. I can’t be the guy who was yesterday. I hope you have understood what I mean.

Love,
Shady

Inna was furious and perplexed. She should have known before. He would leave her anyway. He was known to do that. She dressed soberly and marched to his office.

He was discussing about the club with his staff. “ I need to talk to you now.”, she said angrily. He looked at her standing next to the door. Her body was shivered due to anger. He knew why she was here. However he pretended as if he didn’t know.

Russian roulette-part 9

It was her turn to entertain the audience. She took nervous steps towards the stage. She felt people’s constant stares. She wondered whether it was her skimpy clad body or fear that dragged their attention towards her. She didn’t have any choice but simply ignore. Before she took big leap, Nina whispered, “ Don’t look at them, look at the mirror.” It left her confused. Why did Nina ask her to look at the mirror on the wall?

She was on the stage within minutes. The music was already playing. As she looked at the people, she understood the reason Nina said not to look.  She was numb and her mind was not working properly. Her gaze moved across the room and stopped at Shady. His cold stare gave her Goosebumps. His presence reminded her of the reason she was on the stage. “ This is for you, Patricia!” she whispered to herself.

She glanced at the mirror. She was embracing herself on the mirror. It did look awkward for her . She hated her body- her skinny hands and legs. Her skin was too fair. She despised her hair too. They were too silky to remain tied. A few strands had already come out… She had to stop looking at her skinny image. She had to do something. She had to divert her mind to something good… beautiful. Voila! She got it. She imagined about a beautiful nymph. Her fine hair perfectly bounced and danced as she moved. She imagined her skin to be milky and soft. When she blushed, her cheeks turned red. Her legs were slender and long.

She grabbed the pole and locked her legs on it. She stretched her leg to the right after few minutes and did a half altitude. Next she climbed the pole and this time she left her legs loose. She did a showgirl spin which got the people glued to her. Thus her affair with the pole started. She did it so effortless and stunned everyone who thought she would fail.

Shady was surprised with this angelic girl. His plan to kill her was shelved. He left the club speechless. Who was this girl? Why did she leave him helpless whenever he challenged her? He had lost again. He never took his losses in right way. However he was amazed to see that he didn’t feel that way. No! He would never fall for her. He wasn’t Boris. Boris had soft corners for girls. But Shady had no such feelings for anyone. He had no heart.

Shady sat on his couch contemplating his next move. He was so deep into it that he didn’t notice her standing at the entrance of his room. “ Hi Shady, I need a minute with you”, she said softly. “ What are you doing here? Who allowed you in?” he roared. Tears started pouring out of her eyes. “ I am sorry that I came here. I…wanted to thank you for pushing me to perform. If you hadn’t .. Thanks.” , she cried.

He didn’t realize when he had walked towards her and why he hugged her. He hugged her tight, letting her tears wet his black silk shirt.

Russian roulette-part 8

Shady sipped his last drink. Today’s events replayed in his mind. Why?  Why did he do something that he would never do? Forgiving someone was never one of his principles. He would punish a person for even tiniest mistake. He should have not listened to her. He should have done his way. But he didn’t. Her innocent request had melted his heart. No girl had such an influence over him. He had to stop it right now. He didn’t want to fall for sweet traps.

Inna was practicing her moves as directed by Patricia. She had tripped several times while climbing the pole. It was tiring as well as discouraging. A month had passed and she hadn’t progressed from beginner’s stage.

“ I don’t think I can do this…” she said disappointingly. “ What do you mean you can’t do this?  You are not Boris’s girlfriend anymore. Let me tell you something! I decide who stays and who leaves.”, he yelled at her.
He looked at Patricia and said, “ I want her on floors within next few hours. If I don’t see her, I will take your precious life.”  Patricia nodded with fear. Inna felt guilty for her inability.

It was show time. The club was packed with both men and women looking out for great time. Inna had practiced hard. But it wasn’t that great. Nina had  kept the audience glued to her performance. As Nina came down, Inna grabbed her hand and whispered into her ears, “ How am I going to perform? You have performed so well. I can’t even match up to your dance.”  “ Don’t worry, love. Don’t care about people. They are drunk. They will overlook whatever you show. The only thing that matters to them is your body. You have great body.. embrace it.”, Nina convinced her.

The stage was at the center of the club. It was round shaped with chairs kept around for people who wanted to get closer view of the girls. There were people gathered around the stage. These people were mostly men from the upper class of society.

She stepped with difficulty on the stage. Her feet ached due to high heels.  It was going to be her first performance that decided the fate of Patricia. Her mind had become blank. Her body was tight due to fear.
She was unable to move her body freely. Her eyes became moist as she saw many people staring hard at her. “ Hey girl, we don’t have whole day to watch you cry.”, one of the audience yelled at her.

She felt a hand pull her out from the stage. She had no courage to notice at the person who had grabbed her and pull out from the stage. They stopped at the dressing room. She looked up to see Shady staring with soft grey eyes. “ I am sorry..Don’t kill Patricia. It has got nothing to do with her. I.. failed. Kill me!” she cried. He hugged her tight, giving her shoulder to cry.

“ I won’t kill anyone. I knew you weren’t ready. It’s not your mistake. Don’t blame yourself.” , he said softly. She felt relaxed until she felt someone shaking her. She opened her eyes to see Patricia waking her up. “ Wake up!  You will be next. Nina finished her performance. I had instructed you to be take position near the stage.”, Patricia scolded her. Inna was disoriented for a moment. So whatever happened was a dream. Inna was heartbroken. She wished from bottom of her heart that her dream never ended.

Russian roulette-part 7

Torture, Insanity, Evil and abuses were only words Shady knew. Compassion was long gone when he lost his family to the crime lord- Boris. He had become dismal about all the warm feelings after avenging the death of his loved one. He never showed any mercy to people who stabbed him on his back. Even if it was his closest friend Paul and that’s what he was going to do on this summer afternoon.

He checked his (loaded) gun once again. He wanted everything to be perfect. He had made sure that no one except his men was there at the club. Paul had arrived on time like always. Paul’s punctuality had always impressed him. But it didn’t matter now. “ Hey Shady, I am your friend. You have to believe me.”, Paul begged.

“ Believe! The word doesn’t sound right from your mouth. Don’t say it! Friends don’t backstab. They don’t leave a friend in need. You showed me that I cannot trust anyone.”, he sneered at him. “I didn’t do it on purpose. I was influenced by Lev. He had kidnapped Marina.”, Paul defended himself. “ I have always told you to never fall for these sweet traps. See what this has done to you!  You had forgotten to open your eyes. You failed to see that Marina and Lev were undercover cops. They used your heart to bring me down. Well! They are going to lose again. They will never get me.”, Shady said without any emotion. He shot his beloved friend on his head.

Inna was at the wrong place at wrong time. She had come to meet Shady Zhane. She hid herself behind the wall when she saw the commotion. It was horrifying for her to see the monstrous side of Shady. She wanted to get away. But it was too late.

“ What are you doing here?”, he shouted.  Her body shook due to fear. “ I was… I came here because you had asked me to start work today. I didn’t..see..anything.” she stammered. “ I TOLD YOU THAT I DON’T WANT ANYONE HERE.” , he shot back at his men . Before he could do any more damage, she said, “Your men didn’t see me get inside. I swear I didn’t know anything about the lock down.”

He dropped his weapon down. This was the first time he had shown mercy on someone and he did listen to someone. He left the room without saying one word. One of his men approached her and thanked her for saving his life.

The day had been normal for Inna. She was shown around by one of girls working at the club. There was not much work for her. She was given the work of greeting the guest. It was simple for her. She had been doing this when she was Boris’s mistress.

At her room, she was sharing her first day experience with Nina. “ I am sorry, sweetie. I forgot to inform you about the lock down. But I am really amazed that Shady listened to someone. Shady has never done that. He only does what he thinks. He doesn’t consider anyone’s opinion. I guess he has a soft spot for you.”

Nina said. “Stop it, Nina. He isn’t that bad.”, she said with her cheeks turning red. “The way he kissed you says it all. He has a crush on you.”, Nina said. Inna playfully hit on Nina’s shoulder and laughed. Was it true that Shady was falling for her? He was her boss. But he was known to be heartless. Did he have a heart? She lied on her bed wondering about Shady.

Russian roulette-part 6

Shady Zhane had met many beautiful women and even bed them too. But Boris’s young mistress had left him speechless. How could he overlook her at the party? But if he had got distracted, he wouldn’t have executed Boris.

He had heard angels come down to earth. But now he witnessed it too.  She was barely sixteen. She looked naïve to be Boris’s girl. However he never trusted any girl who entered flesh trade. These girls would use love as means to trap poor men like him to get away from the business. But he was clever enough to not fall for any such sweet feelings.

“ So can you dance?” , he asked snobbishly.  “ Shady… She has no experience in dancing. But she is a fast learner.”, her friend said. “ Ah! No experience. But I heard you were Boris’s favorite toy. Astonishing!  Dancing is very important in our trade. If you don’t know how to dance, then what use do you have for me?” he said . “ But…”her friend defended her. “ Nina!! Doesn’t she have a tongue?” he chided her friend. Inna had remained silent for a long time.  She wanted the job badly to recover her financial strains. Boris bought her gifts and also let her stay with him. But he never paid her in monetary kind.

“ I can dance.” , she broke the silence at last. “ Show me then! “ , he asked and ordered his henchmen to put music.  The music played- an English pop song.  She stood numb. He made himself comfortable on his couch. Nina encouraged her to dance. His henchmen smiled secretly at girl’s incapability. Images of Angel teaching her dance for the first time replayed in her mind. She had told her once about the three magic steps – feel the music, embrace it within your heart and drive people mad that they come again and again to see you.  ‘ Make them here come again and again” were Angel’s last piece of advice.

She closed her eyes and felt the music. As the she swayed to the music, she embraced it. In the end she gave a spectacular performance. It was wild yet sensuous. Her body moved to every beat of the song. She didn’t understand the language except the beats.

He got up from his seat and walked towards her. He pulled her closer to him and kissed her passionately. His tongue forced into her mouth as he explored every bit of her. He didn’t care how she felt. He knew that she enjoyed it. He didn’t care about anyone in the room. Everyone was puzzled as it was not usual sight to see Shady to kiss a girl all of a sudden. He was a man of few words- the inexpressive type.

He tasted good and different. His breath was fresh and minty. It had left her with desire for more. When he was done, her lips were swollen red. Her pony tail hair was open loose now.

“ You will start from tomorrow.”, he said and left her with wondering about him. He was different from the guy who kissed her. That guy was warm and affectionate. Was he always snobbish?
