The perfect date -part 4b

His lust for power had become more after seeing Jane. After a thousand years, he found a doppelganger. It was like a dream come true.  “So I have heard you have found my doppelganger. When are you planning to capture her for our little experiment?” , his partner Annabel asked sarcastically. He choked her neck tightly and said with firm voice, “Ssshhh my love. Our plan will work as per my directions. You don’t have to worry about the ill circumstances. I am there. Hence nothing can go wrong.”
Jane was delighted about Augustus’s proposal. He had asked her to marry him. She was going to have her own family. She was impatient to tell her brother about it. She had mixed feelings of her brother’s reaction. She was on her way home when he said he would accompany her. “You didn’t have to do this. I wanted to do this alone. You don’t know what he will do if he sees you. “ , she said. “ Jane, everything will be fine. I am always there for you. I will make sure that this gets into his thick skull.” , he said.
As they walked towards the woods, something passed them. “What was that?”, she asked. “It must be some animal. Come, let’s walk fast.” he assured her.  They held hands and walked faster.  Suddenly a woman from nowhere blocked their way and said in a husky voice, “Not so fast, my doppelganger. We have work to do.” They were stunned as the woman did resemble Jane. Augustus held her tight in her arms. They were trying their best to find way to move away from her. Unfortunately, they were not alone with the woman. The demon was standing behind them.
“Hi Jane! I missed you so much. Now we don’t have to wait any longer. “, he said , pulling her from Augustus’s arms. She stretched her hands to hold her lover’s hand. But she couldn’t do it and cried his name loud. He tried to fight the demon. But the demon was powerful. “Kill him, Ana. He will be a menace to our ritual.”, the demon said. Anabel did as she was told. She grabbed him by neck and took a huge bite of him. Her venom was already inside his blood cells. He lay half dead on the ground. He stared helplessly at the whole ritual. He felt guilty about not able to help her.
The bite didn’t kill him instantly. His heartbeat had increased rapidly. The venom had converted the blood cells. They regenerated into special cells that made him immortal. The pain accelerated. His heart beat stopped and vision blurred for some time. He got his new life after few minutes later. He rose up from his death bed and became one of them. His power was multiplied and rushed towards the demon who was sacrificing his love. He tore his (demon) neck apart with all his ‘new’ strength. The next target was Anabel who had given him the new power. He killed her instantly. Sadly he couldn’t save Jane. She lay dead on his arms. He had lost everything-his love , family and life. He cried miserably that night.

That night remained hidden in his heart for a century. “Hey! What happened?” Claudia asked, nudging his hand. “Nothing. Some old memories. Let’s go.” ,he said. She felt strange that she was spending her day with complete stranger who was not ready to dwell anything about him.

The perfect date - part 4a

“Augie! Where have you been? I have been looking for you everywhere. Come with me! I have found that bloke at last whoowed you 50 pounds.” , his friend, Bob said.
They were standing next to huge man. “I don’t owe you anything, macer.”, the man argued. “You do, brother.”, a feminine voice said behind him. He turned behind to scold his meddling sister. It was her-the mysterious girl who had stolen Augustus’s heart. She looked so young and innocent to be sister of the huge man. She came a little closer to Augie and paid his money. “Here take this. I hope my brother has no more dues to be paid to you”, she said with soft sweet voice. She left before he could show her his gratitude.
It was days since he met her. But he felt as if it was yesterday that he had met her. He was sitting on the bench at his private garden. He was enjoying the morning breeze. “The breakfast is ready, sir . Lord Arthur has asked you to accompany him for the breakfast. ,the maid said. He wanted to spend some more time with breeze and thoughts. As he was about to give the orders for maid to leave him alone, he noticed the maid. What a coincidence! She was here. The girl of his dreams was actually here. She didn’t recognize him but he did.
At the breakfast table, she assisted the head maid to serve them. He couldn’t take his eyes from her. His mind was blocked by her thoughts. It didn’t matter what his father was speaking. He wondered how someone could be so enchanting.  She left the dinning room after serving them. “Father, who is that new maid?” , he asked. “She is Jane, Rosy’s niece. She has joined today and would assist Rosy.” ,his father said.  “Could you replace her in place of Alex to attend me?”he asked. “Oh why naught! You don’t need my permission, son.”
He tried all the ways to get her attention. But she wouldn’t respond to any of his advances. He was disappointed. She was far away from him though he was close to her.
He was in his room. He was completing one of his art pieces. There was something missing in it. He tore the page for nth time and threw the paint box in a fit of rage. It spilled all over the floors. He saw her standing across the room. She looked frightened by his actions. “Sorry Jane. You can come in. You don’t have to be afraid.”, he said. “No, I will come a little later. I guess it is naught the right time.”, she said in frightened tone. He came a bit closer to her and grabbed her into his arms. He couldn’t control his emotions and kissed her. She couldn’t fight his strength and kissed him back. It was a beginning of sweet love story.
They were not alone. A charming demon stood outside the windowstaring at Jane. His eyes were gleaming as if he had found some treasure in the barren land.                                                                 (To be continued)

The perfect date -part 4

They were at one of speakeasy bars. It was an old underground dungeon used by treacherous men to hide their illegal business. After a few years , it was rebuilt into popular bar. However, the bricks with bullet marks were the only remains of that era.
Her mind didn’t stop cajoling her to ask him about all those doubts about him. “Can I ask you something?” she asked at last. He nodded yes. She drank last sip of martini and said, “How do you know so much about me? What an arse I am? You are a vampire. You have those magical powers to get to know me so well in a day. You can read my mind too. But I don’t understand one thing-if you wanted to have me for supper, then why the hell are you cheering me up?”
“That’s a good question. You remind me of her…my love..Caroline. She was just like you-mysterious and charming. I almost died to keep her alive. Unfortunately that never happened.Hmmm it took me several years to mend that void in my life. After seeing you last night, I felt euphoric at last.” , he said.
She looked at him and thought , “How long has he been like this?” It didn’t take him seconds to answer that question in her mind and said, “122 years and 15 days precisely.”  She hated when he read her mind so easily.
He didn’t want to dwell into his long forgotten past. Nonetheless, his healed wound opened and the painful past replayed again in his mind.
It was 1890s when he was Lord Arthur’s only son, Augustus. He was sitting at the same place as he was now.  His friend had bought him by luring him into adventure that was present in this dungeon. The place was filled with rough and cruel men. There were women too who were mostly prostitutes bought for entertainment. But there was one woman who captured his interest. She was standing at the other side of the dungeon. She looked pretty and innocent for the place. In the other words, she was misfit.
At that moment he knew he had lost his heart to this stranger. It was love at first sight. He got up and tried to push himself into crowd towards her side. She was gone as soon as he reached. Where was she? Where did she go? He looked at all his direction to find that mysterious girl.

The perfect date-part 3

She was wearing her favorite white tube top and paired it with shorts that showed off her gorgeous long legs. She looked very chic and younger than her age. Her hair was tied in a ponytail. The only thing that was missing in her was her smile.

He couldn’t take off his eyes from her. He blew a loud whistle and said, “ You look hot! There is something that you need to do ...(he pulls out the ponytail , freeing the hair that was tied so tightly). Now! Now ! Look at you..You look fatal.”

“Where are we going?” she asked while they were walking. “You ask too many questions. Have patience, girl! Wait till we reach.”, he joked. Within few hours, they were standing next to ‘The comedy store’.
Claudia was puzzled and before she could ask him any questions, he said, “Before you ask anything, this is the best place to relieve all your sorrows.” She wondered , “What does he mean by, ‘relieving sorrows’? What does he know about my pain stricken life? He’s still a stranger to me.” She just rolled her eyes and followed him.

The stand up comedians presented their gigs one by one. Each one of them was funnier and more comic than the previous one. It was very difficult to judge all of them. Claudia had never laughed so much in her life. He was damn right. It did help her to forget her bitter life for some time.

She came out of the place with big bright smile on her face. “I come here once a while to forget my past. I hope it had the same effect on you.”, he said. “It did! I think I could be their regular customer.” , she said.  All the way to their next location, she spoke about how she was enjoying the night. “How about we stretch our legs? We need them more right now.”, he said.

She felt awkward at the ballroom. It had been long time she did ballroom dancing. “ I don’t think I can do this. Let’s go” she said with pinch of embarrassment. “You can do this. You are a good dancer. You need to follow me.” he convinced her. “No way! I am a ballet dancer and not a ballroom dancer.” , she said. He grabbed her hand and led her to dance. Most of the time, she stepped on his foot or missed some steps. But in the end, they completed the perfect jive routine.

“That was a good start, Claudia.” ,he applauded her. Her legs had started to ache after the dance. She took off her heels and sat on the floor. “You look damn tired. Let’s take a cab to our next destination.”, he said calmly.

Wow! Who was this guy? Why was he helping her? She was surprised that the same guy who was showing her good time , was going to kill her yesterday. She knew he was immortal living on human’s blood. She wanted to know more about him. Oh gosh! She didn’t know his name. She was having fun with a stranger who knew everything about her.

The perfect date-part two

He simply stared at her neck. He could hear her steady heartbeats. However he didn’t understand how someone could be so eager to face death. He relaxed his grip on her neck and pushed her aside. She was perplexed at his action and asked, “Why didn’t you kill me?”  He smiled at her and said coolly, “ I love the scared look of my prey. It makes me feel ecstatic. You seemed to be so glad about getting killed. You spoiled my appetite. ”

She didn’t want this opportunity to get away and said, “Wait! What if I disclose secret of your identity to the world? You have to kill me in order to maintain this secret.” He laughed out loud. “ Heights of immaturity! Do you think people will believe you? Ha! Why do you want to die so badly? You are young and beautiful.”, he said.

Her eyes were moist as she found herself losing yet another battle. “What’s the use of this youth and beauty when life is so bitter and ugly? I have lost – my dreams, my love and everything. I don’t want to live a life of lies and deceit.”, she cried. Her emotions took a toll on her body. Her head started spinning. Within minutes she had no control on her body. Her vision turned blurry to complete darkness.

She woke up at her place. He was sitting on a chair next to the dressing table. His innocent smile and eyes made her uncomfortable. She got up suddenly and walked towards the bathroom. After she freshened up, she found him missing and saw a letter on her dressing table.

She was disappointed that she couldn’t thank him properly. She left the letter as it is. She spent the morning hours doing nothing except drinking wine. The day was nearly ending. The sun was melting into orange sky. She looked at bustling nightlife of London from the window of apartment. She remembered about the nights she had enjoyed the company of people. She loved being part of the rave parties , glamor and attention of people after her newly found success. “Night is still young,Claudia. You don’t have to sulk over the past. Life is not about the rave parties and glamor. I will show you what life is! Get dressed and come with me.”, a voice said. It was the voice she had heard before.  She looked behind. It was him.

She was excited to meet him again. She had many questions in her mind like why did he not kill her or how did he get her home or why did he leave without telling or how could he read her mind?
“I will answer all your questions. First, get dressed.” , he said stunning her again.

The perfect date-part 1

She could barely walk on the footpath. She lost her balance a couple of times but she managed herself. Her eyes were bloody red. She had no idea where she was walking. She kept on walking until the roads were empty and only streets lights gave her company. Her legs were getting tired and weary. She wanted to stop but her heart ordered her to walk.

Suddenly she felt something pass behind her. She stopped to see who it was. There was no one behind her. She convinced herself that she had too many shots of vodka because of which she was hallucinating. She continued walking. After few minutes she felt the same – something eerie passing behind her, but this time it was a bit closer. She stopped and turned to see and it was no one again. She got annoyed that someone was playing tricks with her. She screamed, “Hey! Whoever it is, it’s not funny.”

As she turned to walk forward, she slipped and was about to fall. She felt someone grab her hand and pull her toward him. She had never seen such a beauty. He was handsome and tall. His skin was pale white as if there was no blood. His skin felt so cold. His face was innocent yet charming. His smile was intoxicating that was driving her crazy. His thick hair bore a ruffled look. He had sea green eyes.

“Meal time” he said. She didn’t understand what he was saying. “What! Thank You. But I had my supper already.” ,she said . He held her hips tighter as he bought her closer towards him. “Is he going to kiss me?” she wondered.

“No! I am not going to kiss you.” , he said.  She was shocked to hear her thoughts being read loud by a stranger. “I am going to kill you. You are my dinner tonight.”,he continued. His fangs showed up in place of his perfect teeth. His eyes changed colour from sea green to violent red. He wanted take a bite of her neck so badly. The thoughts of the taste of her sweet blood tempted him more. She knew that her time had finally come. The death had come at her doorstep. Her face showed no fear but a beautiful smile.

It confused him and he asked, “ It’s so weird that you smile not fear of death.” “ Death! Death is my long lost friend whom I am searching for a long time. Why do I have to fear when I have nothing to lose. No one would even worry about my death.” ,she said. He was perplexed. Nevertheless he continued with his work. He came closer and closer to her neck to take that everlasting bite.

Before it started- part 5

                                                                    ********

She couldn’t believe her ears. No! This can’t be! She had dropped them last week. They looked so cheerful and happy together. They were going to start a new chapter in their life. Unfortunately their story ended before it started.  They can’t die like this!

Their death affected her deeply. “How could their closed ones take their beloved’s lives in name of honor killing? Was honor and family name greater than love? Then why do our elders teach us to love?”, she wondered. She had lost her love too. She felt miserable and lonely. She blamed herself for being part of their ‘runaway’ plan.If she had stopped them from executing their plan, she would have him at least a bit closer to her.

She wished that her love could save him. But that would never happen. He wouldn’t come back now. She cried alone for their death while everyone was relieved about taking their lives.
She distanced herself from everyone. Her only solace was his memories. Her life again came to a standstill. She was no longer herself. She did love someone so much that she lost her vibrant personality. She became total grey and cold. She couldn’t erase his name from her heart. Her story ended before it started.
