The
cyclone repercussion of one part of world had resulted into gloomy weather.
There was still rain sprinkling outside with faint cold winds. Few people
ventured outside with their vehicles.
However, many people preferred being indoors as they enjoyed the warmth of
their homes just like Taran. He was busy filling the cartons with the old stuff
that he wanted to shift to the basement. As he headed towards the basement, he
saw his wife (Saniya) trying to carry heavy carton. Looking at her petite size,
it seemed to be difficult for her to carry them. He offered to help her but she declined. After
persistently declining his help, she later had to agree as she couldn’t
withstand its weight.
He
carried them to the basement. As he was arranging them, thoughts about Jenny were
lingering in his mind. He couldn’t understand her. Why was she cold towards
him? Did she ever love him?
They were married for a year. But everything
was still the same. He tried many ways to make the marriage work. However
nothing worked. She never reciprocated his love. Their relationship was like
the one sided. It was difficult for him to understand her. She was so complex and
sensitive. Whatever he did hurted her feelings. He felt invisible in her life.
It was like two strangers tied by wordly relationship were staying in a house.
He
was taking out stuffs from carton –greeting cards from her old friends, worn
out sweater, old bedspreads, few heavy books ( no wonder! the carton was heavy)
and an envelope. He kept things on the rack. As he placed the heavy books and
envelope, the name on the envelope startled him. He read the name again and
again-letter to beloved.
