Let go-part 9

They visited all rides in the park not once but twice. The adrenaline and excitement increased as they played all games one after the other. Moreover, Jasmin was more excited to hop into all games at the end of the day. Aman wanted this avatar of Jasmin to replace the cold one.

“ This is the best day I ever had.”, she yelled on top of her voice. He simply smiled at her. But actually he was happier than her to see her this way. “ Be this way.” , he said softly for her to hear.

“ Hey..let’s go there. I haven’t danced for a while.  And I love this song.” , she said , pulling his hand and walking towards the dance floor where ‘In my head’ was blaring at its top volume. They danced till their legs ached.

They sat on the bench near that area. “ Wow!! This was fun!” , she exclaimed. “ What did I tell you! You will have time of your life.”, he said. “ Whatever! What time is it?” she asked while looking at the time. “ Oh lord! Its time! I need to get back home.”, she said, a bit startled. “Yeah! It’s time. I wish this day never ended.”, he said , not realizing his voice was a bit loud. “ I feel the same!” she agreed.

He not only dropped her home, but escorted her to the doorstep. As her aunt opened the door, she saw people she knew gathered at her home. “ Happy birthday Jazz”, they screamed, moving her soul away from her body for some time. “ Thanks! What .. is all this?”, she asked. “ Hmm… don’t be shocked. It was surprise party planned by that main culprit behind you. We are just the supporting actors.”, one of her friend cum colleague said casually.

She gave “ You knew my birthday” look at him. He simply nodded, understanding her signs. “ And the pretending to lie to you about me and taking you to theme park was his idea.”, Sarah said excitedly. “ OMG! I thought you guys wouldn’t remember my birthday….” Jasmin said , but she was interrupted by Sarah.

“Now you could stop analyzing and self pity later. Come, cut the cake!”, Sarah said.
Jasmin cut the cake. But her mind was away still wondering who Aman was. She never realised that this flamboyant guy understood her so well. He went all this way to make her feel special. She wanted to disbelieve this fact. But she couldn’t. Was she falling for him? She had no clue. Who was this guy? How easily she became smitten by him.

Let go-part 8

The day was perfect- bright sun and pleasant weather. They were standing in front of the theme park. Jasmine was clueless about what this whacko guy next to his was going to do with her. While Aman knew clearly what ‘fun’ held beneath that wall covering the park.

“ Why are we here?” she asked inquisitively. “ Obviously fun that you never had or known. Now let’s go.”, he replied excitedly. “Do I have any choice, hmmm?” , she said, rolling her eyes.

They were the first ones to get inside. It was quite early. Many people hadn’t arrived and plus it was a weekday so most of them were busy with their weekday program. While few had managed to bunk school or college or office to have some fun.

“So what do we play… hmmm… you choose.”, he said. “ It was your idea. Since you know about fun better than me, you can do the honours. By the way I am not in mood.”, she said sarcastically. She was actually not in mood in having fun. She was worried about work and people who would be affected by this.
She hated lying to people and most importantly about the one she cared about. However she felt strange about the guilt feeling. She never wanted to do this. She was forced to.

“ What are you thinking so deeply? I mean you could choose any game you would want to play. Ok fine, I will do it.” , he said, heading towards the game stalls.

He started with first stall- Ring Over Blocks. He didn’t win anything . They headed towards the next stalls where he still didn’t win anything. However he did bring a small shy smile on Jasmin’s face. Next stop was big and scary rides. “ Hope you at least join me on this ride.”he joked. “ Why not? You think I am like those girls who get scared  and tremble to play these things. Well, I am not like that.” , she agreed.

“ Woah! Now that’s called having fun. Let’s see what you got, baby.”he said, while she carried disgust expression on her face. As they got into the roller coaster ride, they wished each other good lucks. The ride started, slow at the beginning and when they reached the top, it remained there sometime. Later it came down in high speed with people screaming with joy and fear. She held his hand in order to push those fear away. She was having fun of her life. This was only the beginning.

Let go-part 7

As usual Jasmin was immersed into work, while she would glance sometimes at her team leader. He on the other hand was discussing animatedly about everything except work to new joinee. “ He was supposed to train them and there he was playing with them. Why are other being blind to his irresponsible behaviour?” ,she thought. After some time, she couldn’t take the toll and walked past him.

“ Aman, I need to talk to you alone.” , she whispered in his ears. He was surprised a bit, but later he agreed to seeing her alone. He saw her standing with her hands crossed and biting her lips time to time. “Hmmm… Let me get straight to you! You are sweet and friendly to all. That’s good! But it’s getting overboard. People like friendly team heads but at a point, they may start disobeying you. You need to be a bit serious.”, she advised.

He simply ignored her words. He fixed his stare on her hands movements and the way she spoke the words. All these things amazed him. “ So you got what I said , right?” she asked after completing her speech  just like a presenter would do. He nodded his head without letting her know that he had not listened to single word she spoke.

The next day followed the same routine. She was on time ready with her bag and lunchbox.  As she pressed the lift with bored expression on her face, she felt a something pull her hand. She looked behind agitatedly. “ Hey what are you doing?” she scolded him.  “ We are having a small field trip. Boss arranged this for us to go.”, Aman lied. “ What! I don’t understand what field trip you are talking about. Why didn’t anyone tell me about this sudden plan?”, she said trying to understand what he was telling.

They were at the parking lot where he had parked his car. He took out his cell phone and dialed a number,“ Hi Babe! Tell boss I will not be able to make it up. Jasmin’s aunt is in the hospital because of an accident. I am off to see them. Poor Jasmin is devastated and needs my help.  Thanks babe, I will surely send condolences to her. See ya.”

Jasmin nodded her head in disappointment. “ You lied to me! You said that this was a field trip. You also lied to boss about my aunt and me. How dare you? I am not going to be a part of  your silly plan. Count me out of this! I thought you were mature and you had understood what I was saying yesterday.”, she snapped at him.

“ Lord! How much you talk? Calm down! I am not doing anything wrong. I am actually doing favour to you. By the way, you are entitled to a break. You have been working your ass off. And even if boss would come to know about it, he wouldn’t mind. You do deserve a break.”, he said cooly, racing her temper even more with his words.

She was about to leave when he suddenly dragged her and put her inside his car. “ Do you always need to be dragged like this? God, I bow down to your aunt who has been tolerating you.”, he joked. “You know nothing about me.” she said scornfully and tried to open the locked doors. But before anything else could happen, he raced his car out of the office premises and to place where he wanted to show her how to have fun.

Let go-part 6

She stood there clueless and panicked. There was not a single soul on the highway. She dialed her aunt’s number restlessly, but her aunt didn’t pick her call. “ Where the hell was she”, she wondered. Sarah always picked up her call when she never wanted to. But now when she needed her so badly, she wasn’t there. “ Screw you, Sarah” she cursed.

“ Ah! The devil was here.”, she said to herself.  She saw him riding towards her. As he stopped next to her, she shifted her gaze to other side, pretending as if she hadn’t seen him. “ Hey, you can use my offer to drop you anyway.”, he said huskily.

She fought her will and sat behind him. “God!! Why him?? Why my scooty had to give up on me?” she thought. This was the second time she had to accept his offer when she didn’t want .  But Aman felt victorious and enjoyed this moment as his wish was at last fulfilled.

He could feel her tension from her continuous figitating movements. “ If you stop jumping, I could drop you safely in one piece.” , he said calmly. They reached her home within few minutes. Her aunt was waiting at the doorstep looking bit annoyed. But her mood quickly changed after seeing Aman.

“ Thanks son, why don’t you come in for cup of coffee.” , Aunt Sarah said politely, still maintaining the family gratitude that was missing in her niece. Jasmine gave a fury glance on her aunt.  “First she doesn’t pick my call and now she’s inviting ‘him’. “, she thought. She put up a fake smile on her face and said, “Why not Aman? Won’t you still not come in if I invited you personally? Don’t fret; it is your home only. Am I right, Aunt?” Sarah could feel the heat of her fury attacking her. This happened whenever she called her Aunt instead of Sarah.

He smiled coyly and came in. “ Thanks aunty and Jasmine.”, he said. “ By the way, you can call me Sarah. Aunt is too old fashioned, you see.”, Sarah said.

After coffee formality and few introductory ice breakers, Aman and Sarah became best of the friends. They were talking about the mishap that had happened with Jasmin. “…Sarah, I had question for you. Is Sarah scared of sitting on bikes?”he asked. “ No, why so?” Sarah replied. “ Because she shaking while I am riding.”, he said. “Oh!!  She is never comfortable sitting behind anyone on the bike. She loves being in control.”, Sarah said with a laugh. Soon Aman continued laughing with her.

Jasmin was flushed with embarrassment. She was also annoyed at her aunt for supporting the views of her enemy on her being a control freak. “Am I control freak? Is  my need to have perfectly planned life wrong?” , she questioned herself.

Let go-part 5

She had just one roll that was more than enough.  He on the other hand had large appetite. He had 12 rolls irrespective of his size and forced Jasmine to have some more. But she refused. “ You are a poor eater. Do you ever think about yourself? I mean you hardly have fun  and…. You are absolute control freak!”, he said.

“ It’s time for me to leave.” she said , ignoring him. “ You get offended so soon.” he joked again.  She couldn’t control her temper this time. Her tolerance level was minimal now. “ And you are so non serious about life and everything. You are so…arrghhh!!” she snapped. “ Why should I be? Life is short! You need to enjoy every moment like it is your first and last one.”, he said.

The words struck Jasmine heart, pinching her more every inch. “How dare he calls me a loner?”,she thought. He doesn’t know anything about her life. Enjoy! Because of that her mother left her at the doorstep. She hated words like fun, happiness and enjoyment. They were always short lived and attracted disappointments. Sad and grief were her true friends.

“ Which world are you in , madam? “  he said, bringing her back to reality. “ I will drop you. Your place is on the way.”, he said. “No, I cant take any more favours from you. By the way, I bought my bike.” , she murmured.

He stared at her hard as he saw her left from his sight. He shook his head in disappointment. He missed having her keep her hand on his shoulder while sitting in bike. He would miss her innocent soft eyes that he saw secretly in the side mirrors. She did have an influence on him like no other girl could have. He had purposely asked boss to cancel the presentation in order to be with her. He had also kept her till midnight to just have alone time with her. But he didn’t understand her cold and indifferent behaviour. She was indeed unique from all girls. He had seen the pain in her eyes. He wanted to disclose the reasons for that pain and take it away.

She was a bit relieved about getting away from him. She waited for tomorrow badly as it marked the end of week and beginning of weekend away from him . Everything was fine. But it did remain like this forever for her. The engines of her bike failed and she stopped in middle of the road. To her dismay, there were no people to help her. She stood helplessly thinking what to do now. In back of her mind, she scolded herself for not taking the lift.
