Three days
had passed since she spoke to Luv. He tried speaking to her, but she ignored
him. He didn’t understand her strange
behaviour. Later he assumed her PMS to be reason behind her mood swings.
“ Oh dear! It
didn’t work? I just don’t understand what men see in women like Lisa. Wait! Did
you…do as I said.. makeup, dress and shoes were perfect, right.” aunt asked. “It
was all right. I mean ..I don’t know where it went wrong. He just... laughed
with everyone. But Lisa…she helped me to cope up with that situation. Strange!”,
Disha stammered trying to control her tears. “ You are so naïve. You don’t understand
clever tricks used by people. This is one of her evil tricks to show people how
great she is. Be careful with such people.”, aunt advised.
“ I have an idea to get back Luv’s attention.
Why don’t you take him out for a romantic dinner? This will probably bring him
more closer to you.”, aunt said. As per aunt’s advise, she planned a dinner at Turquoise
(his favorite restaurant).
Everything
was perfect. It was clear sky night with bright moon and cool gentle breeze. A
round table covered with white cloth was placed on the center of the private
lawn of the restaurant premise. There were two white lounge chairs placed
opposite side of the table. Red roses were decorated in shape of heart on the
table. Scented candles were placed on
the centre of the table. The path toward the table was highlighted with small
diyas. It was perfectly romantic.
She was
looking her best in the black designer sari. Her make up was right this time.
Her eyes looked smoky hot. She left her hair free from bondage of pins and
clips. She wore small heel sandals that didn’t make her fall like the last
time. She felt happy and excited.
It was
getting late. This was not his habit of keeping people waiting. He was usually punctual.
“Where was he?”, she wondered. She had asked him to come early from work and
told him about the plan in advance. She called him many times and he hadn’t responded.
Her excitement had turned into worry and anxiety.
At last her
phone rings. “ Hi darling, I am sorry. I can’t make it..Hmm urgent meeting you
see. Hope you don’t mind. Sorry…..( She hears Lisa giggle).”, Luv apologized ,
but before he could finish, she cuts the call.
“How could
he say that? If he never wanted that, he could have said that before. What a
waste?”, she thought. All her efforts had gone in the wind. She simply cried
alone. Her only company was the grief and loneliness.
