Let go-Part 2

She despised him more every day. As soon as he took over the role, she found him unfit. She felt he didn’t have leadership quality to lead people. He was way too ‘ happy go lucky’ guy. He didn’t take things seriously and always joked around.  He would spend most of time flirting with girls. She hated her female colleagues for falling for his useless sweet talks. She could never understand the reason why people loved him.  “What did they see in him? He was like cartoon character who was in wrong place. He would perfectly fit in the shoes of the clown in circus.”, she wondered while grinning at thought of it.

“You do have beautiful smile! Why don’t you smile often?” , he said casually. She suddenly stopped smiling after hearing his voice and got back to her work with her eyes deep into the monitor screen. She pretended as if she hadn’t hear him and ignored him. He shook his head in amazement.

Days had passed like falling cards. But nothing changed her views. Now work seemed to be burden to her. People who took her advices time to time had replaced her with Aman. They now felt comfortable to take inputs from Aman.

The only place that was heaven to her became hell for her. She tried to find excuses to skip work. Unfortunately she found none.

It was end of final quarter of the year. She was stretching herself till midnight to complete an urgent client request. As she checked her time, it was quarter to 1. She was late. She had missed her scheduled cab. To add to her bad luck, she had not bought her bike. She ran down to ground floor and swung door open to get hold of last cab. Alas! She had missed that one too. She was hopelessly scared with thought of staying at the office for the whole day.

She looked for one miracle cab to arrive. Nothing happened. The parking lot was almost empty. The only sound in the area was that of crickets and other creepy insects.

A bike stopped where she stood. The rider took out his helmet.  “God! Why him?”, she thought.  She never wanted this to happen. She did want miracle but god had different plans for her- he sent her nightmare in form of Aman.

“ Hi, Can I drop you somewhere?” he said. She didn’t reply and looked at the other side. “ See, you wont even get an auto at this hour. I can drop you.”, he continued. She realized that what he was telling was fact. At this hour, it was difficult to find a lift, leave the auto alone. After fighting her thoughts for long time, she agreed to hop in.

(To be continued)
